Voluntary NC Account migration begins October 17, but for many it would be extremely unwise to migrate until they are forced to. Players that have been long standing supporters of the game will lose their collector's edition perks as well as any unapplied or account wide codes for the game. All perks will go away when the account migration happens. One can only hope that it isn't forced upon the player population for a while.

As reported on the official Aion site, beginning Wednesday, October 17, players can opt to migrate their current NCSOFT Master Account for Aion and Lineage II to a NC Account. The new account will use your email address rather than a static account name and will not be attached to your master account. Unfortunately, a different email is needed for each account, so beware of this when migrating more than one Aion account from a master account. The FAQ for the migration explains some of the rationale behind the change.

I have to admit that I'm a little skeptical as an original player of the game who expects to lose all their account wide items for any character created after the migration. And yes, this does matter with new character types becoming available in Aion 4.0. NCsoft - why must you take away my Tutty costumes!?
