Ok, I'm a Templar and I have seen other Templars be able to quickly switch over from their sword/mace and shield to their 2-handed greatsword for the Judgement procs and then right back again without thinking twice about it. I try to do it via, Control + Z and I have to end up hitting Esc to stop attacking, retarget the target, and then attack. By that time the proc is almost gone or it isn't worth the time. Anyone have any help on making a macro for something like this?

Maybe I'm not getting all of what your asking but I just use the "switch weapon" action button from the skills menu to switch weapons mid battle. I use two different staff's on my Chanter and that seems to work just fine.

No, I understand that you can simply use the switch weapons button or something like that, but I have seen people switch weapons immediately when there skill procs and then go right back again to there main weapon right afterwards. When you use the button or skill, you have to cancel all of your actions in order for the weapon to change which is very slow and sometimes you don't even know if it is going to change over.

I use the change weapon button bound to my mouse as Ctrl-= and it switch no problem. I don't lose the target or anything. May be a little slow and if lag is being a pain sometimes I have to click it twice but otherwise it works fine.

That's what I have been doing for the time being, but sometimes when you think you have to click it twice it will switch and then switch back again, gets to be a pain. Well, the only thing I have tried to maybe make this work in a macro style is:
/select [%Group1]
/changeweaponset
/delay 1
/select [% previous target]

Spelling might be off, doing this from work. The delay might not have to be there or anything, but it will select myself and change the weapon right away, since you stop attacking once you change target. With or without the delay, the macro seems to work fine until it is told to go back to the previous target. I then tested the Heal Assist(?) macro out from the example tab and the [% previous target] I guess simply doesn't work. Because if an example of a macro doesn't work, then I'm going to assume that a custom made macro with the same attribute isn't going to work either. That adds another macro that doesn't work along with /Automaticselection or something like that.

I have always had difficulty with weapon switching, whether it be using the keybind or a macro. My internet simply isn't good enough to switch back and forth quickly, or there's some animation cancel mechanic that I haven't yet grasped.

I know a gladiator from my guild who switches weapons a lot, but he does it manually by right-clicking weapons in his inventory. (He keeps his inventory window open all the time.)

You don't need to stop attacking to make the swap. Frequently on my gladiator I will fire a few times with my bow, then when the enemy is in range, switch immediately to my melee weapon of choice then proceed to hack at the enemy. The problem comes from being hit, parrying, blocking, dodging, and using skills, which makes it incredibly frustrating to weapon swap when you're under fire. As such even with a macro if you're hit when the macro is supposed to change weapons, it won't, and then continue with the rest of the commands. To make matters worse you may find yourself in a position where you won't swap the first time, use the skill on the wrong set, then switch, forcing you to do yet another switch to get back onto the right set.

I know why conditional/loop statements aren't usable but it makes it a nuisance when trying to make something work without them. Basically you'll just have to do it manually to be 100% certain things work as planned.

Ok, when he/she switches item manually from the inventory, does it bug out if they are under attack?

Reason I say this is because then we could use the inventory switching macro so then we wouldn't have to keep the inventory up all of the time.

I'm not sure what problem you're having. Judgment only procs off of one move, so don't hit any other skills immediately after that move, shift + z >>> Judgment >>> shift +z, you're good. Why are you touching esc. ?

Edit: I was messing with this yesterday to make sure I could do it quickly. You can practically press shift and z at the same time and it will go through.

Can't you just place the switch weapon icon in a quickslot and thenuse the quickslot in the macro? Thats how I do attack and pet-attack, using icons in the quickslots

Ok, we know that you can do that... The issue is that there is a 'delay' if you will with either way of using Shift+Z or the button in the actions tab (which could be on the quick bar). The objective is how to make it so that you are guaranteed to get a weapon switch off without having that stupid message of "you can't do this at the moment".
