King's Damage Meter

How does the program handle pet damage?
How does it handle effects such as poison and procs?
Is there a break down of damage over the duration of the encounter?
Is the DPS aspect just DPS or EXTDPS?
Are pets merged into 1 clump?
Is there an export to clipboard feature?
Whats the end encounter trigger?
Does other party combat prolong or trigger parsing?
Does the parser automatically detect whos in your group or do you need to go about selective parsing?

Aion's log is kind of funny about the info it gives about pets. There's no plain text way of telling that an npc dealing damage is actually some one's pet. What I had to do was catch the person summoning the pet. I take that information and refer to it every time that pet deals damage and give "damage inflicted" credit to the owner.
There is a crucial flaw in this. If some one is near you with the same pet, you'll get credit for their pet's damage. Or if some one summons the same pet as you, near you, they will get credit for your pet's damage. With the way Aion currently outputs these events in the log, there's no possible way to distinguish one person's pet from another.
This shouldn't be much of an issue in groups. Most only have one SM and when there's two, they like to use different pets. from what I've seen any way.

If you mean damage over time, the log will give you credit for the first tick of damage. After that, the log mentions you deal continuous damage over time using a skill. And finally, the skill is given credit for the damage inflicted with the remaining ticks.
I dealt with this the same way I dealt with pets. The parser catches the player dealing "continuous" damage and gives credit to said player when the skill inflicts damage.
We face the same problem with DoTs. If you cast Earth's Wrath on an npc and another cleric casts Earth's Wrath (same rank) on a different npc near you, the last person to have casted it gets credit for the damage.
This shouldn't be much of an issue in groups as DoTs don't stack in Aion. A new DoT on the same npc will override the previous caster's.
As far as procs go, If you mean godstones, I don't know what it looks like in the chat log yet =D Any log contributions are welcome.

This program is still young. I parse the time events occur and I have plans in the future to break down encounters and sessions.

The DPS system currently stops automatically on Idle. But this is per player for now. So DPS is your damage output during seconds of activity. I will add an option later to make the "auto-idle" feature switch between a per player and a per group basis.

Yes. I have been limited to my own ideas. I would love to find out what exactly people want copied to the clipboard. As is, it can copy you, or all players in this format:
({Name} {TotalDamage}, {Dps} dps ({ContributedPercentage}))

Encounters not supported yet. It'll likely be idle time that triggers the end of an encounter. I'll have to figure in a few more factors such as sleeps and roots. We'll see.

Parsing happens as soon as it happens in the log. Not sure if i understand the question.

It will detect who joins and leaves your group any time after it is run. You can right click on a player and add them or remove them from the group. Aion gives no information about the group in the log when you join. So members already in the group will have to be added manually.
Group members are denoted with a gold border. (As of version 1.2)
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to answer your questions.

One last comment about this question, it will catch damage dealt by engraving effects.

directory (usually “C:\Program Files\NCsoft\Aion”), name it “system.ovr” and put in the following lines:...
It doesn't modify any of Aions files but it adds system.ovr file to Aion game folder so from NCSoft point of view it may easily be client modyfication, and that Sir is banable.
Wasnt there some statement about system.ovr here on AionSource?

So..... is it bannable?
O/C it is, and if you tryed to tell them tamat said it was ok, there response would probly be "Whos Tamat?"

Anyway, ontopic. Good work, similar works in L2 were also grey area. Never made official but never enforced either. My DP static's DPS went up markedly with this. Less AFKing and more penis waving.

The application does imply modification of the game client (I'm primarily referring to the System.ovr file) and is in doing so in breach of the User Agreement (liability ensues). We want to keep the game fair and never hesitate to go after cheaters, users who automate their game play or otherwise exploit/hack. There's however a ladder of priority, and I'd be lying if I said that going after people deploying this seemingly 'harmless' tool is on the top of that list at this point.

So you're basically saying that this is agains't the ToS, but you guys are not really '' chasing '' after people who's using these tools?

So that means "when we have taken care of bots and hackers, you will get banned eventually"?
Or does it imply that you will look in to this and give it the green lights after you reweived it?

Thanks, your post made me laugh hard. Just say "YES, WE GONNA BAN YOUR NYERK FOR IT!". Then you won't have as many people complaining when they get banned for using this harmless tool.

Translation after taking out legal sidesteping to CMA:
This is technicaly against EULA but it's not giving an unfair advantage so we're not going to go after people who use such programs unless we discover it could be used in a less benign way.
You'll never get a straighter answer out of NCsoft than that because they have to cover their ***es

just parsing seams to have some bugs. for testing i grouped with a friend who was in teamspeak3 with me, and we resetted that tool at the same time and then attacked a low level elite mob. here are the results:

on the first one, where there is a big difference, we used all skills. on the second, where the gap between those parses is much smaller, i didnt use my summons (aka noble energy and holy servant). so those summons seam to be counted when i parse myself, but not when someone else parses me.
like i said, great tool, but 2 people should parse exactly the same. continue please! waiting for updates ^^

TACO's make me fart!

Nice one
On another note, can we have a section - heavily moderated - on AionSource in which all community contributed tools that are NOT considered against the ToS are being collected ?
That would greatly put people's mind at ease and it would be alot quicker finding stuff.

For those who see this as a great excuse to use after being banned for botting: we can see the difference between damage parsers and bot software. If you're botting, we'll know.
