:sparkles:
I kinda hate melee professions (especially warrior) so I'm glad that one is out of the way now. :P
They'll probably release ranger next. Hope they use a sylvari to demonstrate the skills.

My name is Melchior and I approve of this link.

For those keeping score at home these Warriors can use SEVEN different weapons (including a bow), which could make them more than your standard "Sword and Board" tanks. And unlike some games that allow a Warrior-Type class to use a bow (Aion) it looks as if they'll get some actual bow skills.

This game can't come soon enough. I'm hoping they still keep the Mesmer class (my personal favorite).

EVERYONE knows they will have a Ranger class, so they might wait. I think the next class will be more obscure. LIKE MESMERS (or Ritualists. But probably Mesmers because they are the bomb).

Onlinewelten: If a warrior is wearing a shield can he actively block blows and projectiles? Does the character’s orientation have an influence on the received damage?

Eric Flannum: Yes! One of the skills on the shield for warrior is a block ability that is held down to activate. Warriors can also block projectiles targeted at allies by simply standing between an ally and an enemy and blocking the projectile [...].

Noooo this will require some skills.

Btw didn't they say there will be some new professions? (by new I mean never before seen ones)

I personally think that they will release the most obvious classes first.
At GamesCon you can probably play with either Elementalist, warrior or ranger and after that they will start releasing classes like mesmer etc (assuming mesmer will be in GW2, but the class was kinda unique so I don't think they'd want to get rid of mesmers in GW2).

Yes, there will be 8 classes. Some old, some new.
Probably 6 of them are the core GW1 classes (ranger, necro, monk (though they will be more like paladin i think), elementalist, mesmer and warrior)
And 1 of the 2 remaining classes is most likely a sin/rogue.

For people that don't look up GW2 info that often, these concert art pieces were released a few months ago.

So far the 'design' of this concept art is exactly the same as the art that can be found on the profession pages on the official website. Though they did change the mace from the warrior concept art to a sword. As you can see it pretty much confirms mesmer, ranger, assassin and paladin-ish classes.

I really do hope they don't use any of the new classes. Ritualist, assassin, dervish and paragon were all horrible ideas.

Just give me a mesmer and a ranger.

Assassin/rogue is likely going to be a class in GW2. (You can see in my post above that there is concept art for it too)

It has been confirmed that Scythes/Spears won't be in GW2 so Dervish/Paragon won't be back in GW2 either. Unless ofcourse the basic idea of the classes merged with another. Warrior was announced 2 days ago and actually it looks like it will have many support skills(paragon).
Dervish could be merged with a monk/paladin-ish class.

As for ritualist.. I think they will merge it with necromancer, if there will be necromancers in GW2.

Every game has a rogue/assassin class these days (that and there's concept art for the class) so don't be shocked if that is in there. If anything they might make that the next class reveal.

I could easily see Necro/Rit being merged, that actually makes sense.

Moar Mesmers.

Necromancers have kind of been confirmed now as well. As some of you may know, they will release 3 books about some of the events that happened close before GW2.

An excerpt from the first book, Ghosts of Ascalon, has been posted here. It mentions a Sylvari Necromancer :

Quote

Dougal nodded. The sylvari necromancer was probably the most pleasant individual of their motley krewe, himself included. Shorter than a human but not as diminutive as the asura, her skin was a verdant green, her hair more similar to the leaves of a succulent plant than that of a human woman. When she moved, golden pollen drifted off her.

Apart from that, not much new exciting news. There should be a new class release pretty soon™ and they also promised us a blog post about audio, with audible proof, about a month ago. :D

On saturday they said we should get some really nice infos this week, and knowing there will be a playable demo at GamesCon and PAX, I wouldn't be surprised by a gameplay video.

Yea, I'm expecting the gameplay video(s) to be released in August (before, during or after) GamesCon. And we'll probably get some 'official' videos from the demos as well, I hope. People will post loads of low quality videos from the demo anyways.

Also, I'm expecting the new profession to be released at July 21st, or something like that.

I will update the OP when new professions have been released, but I guess everyone that's even slightly interested in GW2 will visit the blog every week anyway. So I guess it won't be necessary to post any of the other stuff that has been announced on either the blog or the official website.

By the way, I haven't really been keeping track of the 3 books because I don't really like reading. Apparently the first book will be released in a few weeks. According to Massively the 2nd book is supposed to be released somewhere around December, but at this point that's just rumours/speculation.

EDIT:

Some new info just came up in an interview that was posted by JeuxOnline yesterday:
  • Dungeons will be for groups of 5 players.
  • They will give us more info about death/resurrection mechanics soon™
  • There will be no duels (as in 1vs1 duels, like Aion has)
  • Characters will not be able to 'walk', they only have a running animation at this moment. (I do wonder why someone would even ask this question in an interview ¬_¬
  • Race has no effect on the skills

Keep in mind that this comes from google translate, so some things might not be 100% correct.
The interview can be found here
