Cancelling Aion Mag Subscription

Introduction:

These instructions explain how to cancel your Aion Magazine subscription from within your PayPal account.

What some people don't realise is, you cannot cancel the Aion Magazine subscription just by emailing their customer support and telling them you don't want to subscribe. You are required to cancel the ongoing payment from within your PayPal account in order to properly unsubscribe. If you don't cancel it properly, the publilshers of the magazine (Cranberry Publishing Interactive Ltd) are entitled to keep charging you!

This is what it says on the Aion magazine website:

To stop the subscription, you need to cancel the recurring payment you set up on the original transaction in PayPal - once you have done this successfully, no further payments will be sent and the subscription will cease.

Unfortunately, the publisher doesn't provide any instructions on how to cancel a recurring payment in PayPal....so lets get started!

Cancelling your subscription in PayPal:


1. Login to PayPal
First things first, you'll need to login to PayPal and take yourself to the "My Account" page.

2. Click on the "Profile" link


3. Click on "My pre-approved payments"



4. Click on "Cranberry Publishing Interactive Ltd"



5. Click on the "Cancel" link or button
Depending on how you setup the payment to begin with, you will either see a "cancel subscription" button at the bottom of the page or you will see a "cancel" link toward the top.

Look for one of these on the page and click it:


6. Confirm you wish to cancel.

7. Return to the "My pre-approved payments" page and check it says cancelled

And that's all there is to it! Don't get caught by recurring payments that you don't want. I recommend that you regularly check and cancel reoccuring payments you have in PayPal, before you get charged.

I read Tiru's thread about him getting charged on his PayPal then I started asking a few people in-game whether they knew they had to cancel their subscriptions. It turns out Tiru is one of many people who had no idea they had to cancel it via PayPal.

....and a guide was born!

One of the many reasons why I sub to something for 12 months to get the cheaper price, then remove the sub and payment so I get a 'moan letter' next time reminding me to pay up.

Hi Bunny, i followed the steps but i dont see the "Cancell subscription" button:(
Any help? tried with firefox and chrome, no luck.

Sometimes it is just a link called "Cancel" toward the top of the page, like this:

When I go to the page as described I do not see a cancel subscription button or Active|Cancel button.

That's possibly because the subscription is already cancelled.

See the screenshot at step 7. If it already shows as cancelled, you won't get a button.

Thanks for the guide. I'd like to note that the german interface for paypal looks totally different, but it wasn't too hard to figure out how to apply the guide there.
