Not per defintion. MR means you won't get caught so easily by zergs since you outrun most and cant be controlled. Not like all pvpers on perento have full eternal shiet and on spatalos all wear udas. In fact in recent months most new asmo's are all in eternal jewels/gear and what not.

Do you even know how strike resist works? Or are you one of many who think its the "my crit - his resist = crit chance"... if you do, than sorry to disappoint you, but its a bit different.
The game first "rolls" for you, if your hit is a crit or not, than the game "rolls" for your enemy, if his strike resist will work or not. Basicly you have now about 54%(?) chance to crit, and most people sit at around ~250 strike resist, which gives them about 25% chance to resist a crit.

8k or 10k ... wont make a difference if you catch him.
From the other hand, if he resists your ankle and tendon, than just sleep, traps, buff up, silence, RAPE D: As long as you cant catch him he can kite you if initial burst fails. Than again, if you got MR set... XD

Your theory is definitely wrong. I just made a test duel with a friend and proved the opposite.
Duel Time: 5 min
Weapon: One Dagger
My Crit. Strike: 700 (with food and scroll)
His Strike Resist: 181
Crit. Strike - Strike Resist = 700-181 = 519
Hits: 486
Critical hits: 234
Crit. rate: 48%
The crit. rate should be 50% but the sample size in this test was too low for a more accurate value.
The maximum crit. rate is 50% and the PvE cap 500 crit. The test results can be found in this thread.

Well that does not prove much. Small amount of hits, so you cant certainly say that it works that way and not the other.
I have an idea, can you try to duel your friend with as low crit as possible? Best would be to get someone with high crit resist, so you can get it like 200crit against 200crit res. Then we could see how it exactly affects each other. If its crit - crit res, than you should get 0 crit, which means no critting, and if you will sill crit, means it works as I described.

Tested with 387 Crit against 389 Strike resist. 0 Crit for over 1000 hits.

With Chanter Mantra you would have 439 Strike Resist.
- Base Strike Resist with Lv. 55: 30
- +15 Armor: 15*(4+3+3*2) = 195
- Eternal accessories: 41+2*31+2*20 = 143
- Lucky Wings: 21
- Chanter Mantra: 50

Anvi - Suthran
Basically I have 2 gears with 2 bows , which gives 4 combination, and I use 3 of them: 40e + bow 55 PvP = 1750 MR // 40e + SW bow = 1900 MR // Stormwing set + Stormwing bow full MR = 2215 MR
Against cloths I use the 3rd one with 2215MR, its imba, most SMs don't have enough MA and Sorcs very often do not use Supplication of Focus against a ranger, and if they do, I back a little bit, or I switch to gear 2 and 3 shoot them ^^ (I use SW bow against cloths and chains because there is a Silence GS on it, whereas the 55 PvP Bow which has a Blind GS, so I use it against Leathers and Plates)
Against Clerics I use the 2nd gear with 1900 MR, it's more than enough and I still have more than 675 crit.
Against everyone else I use the first gear with 1750 MR. Basically, it's enough to resist to almost everything : Glads -Ankle Snare, Lockdown, Earthquake wave, Templars - Doom lure's snare, Divine Justice ... Sins - Every magical stun (Ambush, pain rune ...) and all the runes [If they don't use oath of acc, and they usually don't against a ranger]. Rangers - Silence, sleep, snare, root ... [Provided that they don't have a MA build, but if they do they don't have much MR or HP, so you can kill them easily] Chanters - You don't resist much to them but I mean, seriously who have problems against chanters ? :p
One last thing, I always keep the SW bow for the beginning of the fight, so as to have 1900 MR and to be sure to resist to everything (most of all ambush, ankle snare and doom lure) and only when I do, I switch weapons and take the 55 PvP Bow.
Why did I choose MR Build ? Because I PvP alone most of the time, in group of 2 to 4 ppl sometimes and I don't do any RvR. So I need to be able to kill every other class whithout using all my skills (like sleep / NR and so on) because I can handle 1v2 or 1v3, but if they're more than 4, I'm dead anyway. And I don't enjoy very much to 3 shoot some random guy in the middle of 2 alliances just to make AP's (I use to do that a lot before, with 1900 MR 383 res crit and a +15 bow it's pretty easy

I just don't like ur main bow because it has no Crit... in terms of manaslots, u loose almost 5 slots (compared to SW bow for instance) and imho a ranger with a MR build can't afford that because either the HP or the crit is too low(I bet u wont refuse 5x95=475HP right ? ^^)
For the moment that's not a big deal, but I'm afraid that with the 2.7 it will make a difference in the new 1v1 BG...

I got Lahkane, but Jotun has better stats. >.< And necklace, platinum medals are a real pain so I've just been spending AP on buying Macc set. Hopefully will be finished soon. =)

Yeah. It's not like it's practically impossible to get more than 100 insignas per chaos arena. 3 days = 6 runs + 100 bonus from quest = 700 insignas. You got that in 3 days for sure.
Let's admit you are incredibly awesome and manage somehow 120 per run (finish all arenas with the 50k points limit at the last moment or something?) That's still only 820 tokens in 3 days and I'm not even sure it's possible to get that many in a single run.
