i cant help but feel that communities like aionsource have been living quite unhealthy lives for some reason. i thought we are too focused on gaming. so i was thinking there's room for more off-topic off-topics.
is there a place like that?

Take it away please if it exists. Though curse does have its own forum. And on it I found this. O.O
Why oh why did you make me look at that?

what we found was:
curse forums are either dead, or over moderated, or a bit of both.
curse forums love mini mods and mod pets to an extreme degree.
curse forums often defy all common netiquette, for example off topic forusm where off topic chatting will get you insta permaed, stickies for threads from normal posters about how you shoudl always necro 6 year odl threads rather than make a new thread on the subject if a 6 year old thread already exists.
most curse game forums do not allow criticism fo the game they are about.
most curse forums are mostly about in depth lore/rp discussions and sharing yoru personal fantasy wet dream about said upcoming game.
curse mods WILL nyerking warn yoru ass for having a different opinion.
curse forum rules do NOT apply to teh staff's friends.
if you are really nyerking bad at eveyr game you play, but think your'e really nyerking pro, and love to zerg recruit for games years in advance, then bump your htread 20 times a day, and woudl rather hit the repor tbutton than sort it ou tin game, and lov eto talk about bad posts for 10 pages in the thread they were made in one time, then you will LOVE curse forums.
curse fansites are still better than mark's more recent fansites.
curse fnasite forum's tech section are mostly brand fanboying and minimoderation/pwoer demonstrations, and totally false and often harmful/expensive mistakes information/recomendations.
msot of the regular posts are total gentlemans who are there mainly to feel important in yet another mmo they will rage quit in 3 months and move to the next game's fansite to beocme and importan tpillar of the community in, campaign fo rmod status, score points by getting htreads stickied, spread misiniformation about hte new games, and otherwise are total douches.
umm what else. oh NEVER EVER MAKE A JOKE ABOUT THRALL ON MMO-cHAMP
speakign of mmo champ, googl emmo champion with out the dash. that site was around first LOL.
zam is probably no better or worse.
most other indie fansites are also nyerk.
general interest forums tend ot be just as nyerkty.
so hard to fin good/decent/active forums in general and always has been that way.
most forums are neckbearded mouthbreathign basement dwellers that are there to meet rich american future husbands so they can eat 2x the tubs of ice cream and buy alot of nyerk on amazon and ebay between getting carried through wow clone raids adn telling everyon they're pro

AS is and always has been very odd for curse.
if anyone is curious about the above post by me, that's pretty much the agreed opinion not jus tby people who have gone exploring with me from AS, or our ownexperiences,
i go into randomchannels for game son irc servers, and mention curse fansites, and get unsolicited similar stories and opinions.
i till defend curse fomr hte hack/scam meme though. no mroe liekly to get yoru wow account hacked from a curse ad than a zam ad or a neowin ad or a NYT ad.

not to knock on snoozle, who is one of the better curse admins, and not even paid to boot. but uh
trying to be a mod pet wasn't look on very kindly around here befor ehe was admin, nevermind everything else.
adn posters used ot have avoice in shaping moderation policy. as well as cynic didn't give buillnyerk excuses as to why bullnyerk warns and bans were going to stay.
well not just cynic but one or two sr mods as well.
overall though it's kinda funnny, becuase the people who still talk about aion here don't know who the nyerk we are becasue we haven't talked about aion much if at all for more than a year now,
and yet we've been here far longer than any of them.. LOL.
i'm no e celeb like pure, but uh random games and places i use this name, or device too, get recognized and shout outs based on knowing us here.
i understand i used ot have quite the rep in aion off general forum regulars.
the thing to understand about AS vs other curse fansites is
what would fly here doesn't fly there.
what flies there doesn't(well used to not) fly here.
gernerally speakign AS (used to be) is more reasonable in several ways.

Cynic says I'm too nice. I probably am. But meh... I'm just not going to get all worked up about it.
I am proud that AS still shows up high on the search "mech anal tool" though. It makes all the pain of dealing with the forum bearable.
You know, I kinda want to listen to The Devil Went Down to Georgia now... hmz...
