Sigil Strike build
and
QD build
And about gear, the best gear for assassin are 40 elite, 50 elite and eternal arena set.
As for weapons you need to know if youll go for d/d, s/d or s/s. Some good weapons for assassin are Tac officer sword/dagger, eternal arena sword and brigade general's sword/dagger.
For jewelry, full 55 eternal jewelry are the best choice for an assassin.
Its very hard to tell you what exact build, gear you should aim for, its all about personal oppinions and how much time you are willing to spend on this game. But this gives a general idea about the current options.

Hey Diven, Ronin here.
I'll just explain you the possibilities for high lvl assassin *55.
Stigma Hybrid #1: Ambush, Sigil Strike, Shadow Walk, Flurry, Apply Deadly Poison, Oath of Accuracy, Flash of Speed, Blinding Burst, Venemous Strike, Aethertwisting, Sensory Boost.
Stigma Hybrid #2: Ambush, Shadow Walk, Flurry, Apply Deadly Poison, Oath of Accuracy, Blinding Burst, Aethertwisting, Lightning Slash, Apply Lethal Venom, Sensory Boost, Dash and Slash.
Stigma Quickening Doom Abyss: Ambush, Apply Deadly Poison, Oath of Accuracy, Blinding Burst, Lightning Slash, Apply Lethal Venom, Dash and Slash, Sensory Boost, Quickening Doom, *pick last 2: Aethertwisting, Shadow Walk, Flurry.* <- The more important stigmas to make the build work properly.
Equipment Leather: Elite Guardian Tribunus (50 gold), Guardian Primus Pilus (55 gold), Noble Coliseum (55 eternal).
Weapons *dagger*: Noble Coliseum's Dagger, Archon Brigade General's Dagger.
Weapons *sword*: Noble Coliseum's Sword, Archon Brigade General's Sword.
Accessories Leather: Elite Guardian Tribunus (50 gold), Guardian Primus Pilus (55 gold), Archon Brigade General (55 eternal) -> I didn't add Archon Brigade General to the armor because it just takes too long. if I were you I would take less good armor and aim for the best Weapons, then Accessories, as a last.. Armor. The Archon Brigade General Accessories are amazingly good due to it having huge amounts of Strike Resist (Reduce chance of getting a critical strike from enemy).
Noble Coliseum: If you didn't read the updates, we have a 10 man FFA arena and a 1 vs 1 arena where we can earn Crucible Insignias and Courage Insignias. With these insignias you can buy the Coliseum items which are very good at a price of conditioning them (there's an NPC at Marchutan's Priory for conditioning your items at it's cheapest). They are all PvP equipments.
Archon Brigade General: Better than the Noble Coliseum but they are not a set, they are individual parts but very strong. If you would go for the Archon Brigade General weapons I suggest as an Assassin you go for the Daggers, they have Bonus Attack and Accuracy. Which makes them finally worthy to take instead of Swords. You can boost up Critical with Foods and Scrolls upto like 190 ~ 200 additional anyway.
Lvling: There's a Mentoring system now where u can get your character boosted in no time, the more people in your group the better experience you will receive *Not too sure about this but as from what I saw this is a fact*. Just get someone to mentor you, fill the group. Start grinding with mentor, you will receive the loots and heaps of EXP.
3.0: I know we're getting new stigma's, and I believe 1 additional Stigma slot, Mounts etc but really I'm too damn bored to start thinking about what's the right thing to take and what isn't. There will be alot more PvP sets too.. Conditioning types aswell as regular sets (f.e. Elite 50).
Hope it helped dude!

That's all great advice, thanks a lot for your time
As for the mentoring system i dont think i can take advantage of this since i will start on the fresh servers !
Overall how do you think sin stands among others in pvp? Cause especially with my gladiator there was really minimum threat back then from sins. I have heard that they got buffed though !

The thing that makes assassins very good is the element of surprise. An assassin also could beat all classes ingame if played right. (Clerics have no chance vs Sorc or Templars have no chance vs SMs, assassins dont have a setup like this)
Another thing that makes sins very good is that they are the class with highest survivability vs Magic skills. Since magic skills have highest dammage ingame and most skill effects ingame are magical this is a huge advantage.
And of course their high dps and the new 55 eternal weapons makes them very dangerous.

DnS build without QD is also a decent option
Also if you quit long ago you might be not aware of the quite high amount of players using radar hack allowing to see you while in hide, that's one of major drawbacks as sin when it comes to OWPvP
