i saw alot of qq that it wasn't more like/exactly like gw1 on the forums and in irc.

i was wondering what people were expecting based on even a single 2 minute video in the last 2 years of the game.

I don't think anyone who researched even a little about the game thought it would be like GW.

But that doesn't change how disappointing that is to someone who actually liked GW.

was funny seeing people being upset it didn't control/play exactly liek gw1

liek auto run to target, or auto follow on mobs, or click to move, or being able to stand still or faceroll pvesemi afk(with henchmen ofc)

ofc it was refreshign to see a few of them say it was because they were bad lazy players. :sparkles:

Yeah I'll never understand why some people are so die hard about click to move.

But the control system isn't what I mean when I say "feels" like GW.

I mean in more general terms. GW was designed to be different then other MMOs, GW2 is designed to be just like other MMOs. That's the general feel I get from it.

AND YES, I UNDERSTAND SOME PEOPLE WANTED THIS, I'M JUST SAYING I, PERSONALLY, DID NOT.

i feel it's similar enough to wow clones to be intuitive without being a wow clone, while at the other times offering up some fresh ideas and flavours and way to do things.

i think the combat is interesting- though that reminds me, i heard people saying you just keep everything on cd, which seems odd to me, because i felt the opposite about combat.

as well someone in irc came into say as ele you should switch non stop between the attunements because once you cycle back the cd's on teh spells you used 45 s or w/e ago would be back up again.

ofc that guy also said if you don't play sc2 diamond league don't play ele because it requries high APM to play effectively.

and then he didn't udnerstand what i mean byt, no good timing and positioning is much better than you rability ot press lots buttons as quickly as possible

maybe not to the extent of smashing buttons until theyre all on cd and then switching attunes/weapons, but switching is very important for maximizing utility. for example, on my mesmer, i have a 6 second bubble when i have my staff equipped. i switch back to it, as well as the skills that give me an instant illusion/phantasm, then i switch back to greatsword and dps. that keeps me well protected and allows me to use Mind Wreck within 5 seconds of combat, as opposed to 20

yeah i do need to get better at switching effectively.

in the first wvw session i just kinda randomly switch the air and started using that til we finished.

as opposed ot dynamically switchign back and forth as needed.

though tbh didn't really feel much need to switch from fire with staff. but looking at skillbuilder i can see a few situations in that 2nd video from last night where the air stuff would come in handy.

I dislike the lack of an energy/resource system. Removes a whole lot from PVP play.

Energy/Resource denial and learning to use what resources you get well is something I think is important. Relying solely on cooldowns is a bit meh.

i like lack of energy. i find energy to be annoying in previous mmo's. espsecially as frost amge back in tbc where i lost alot of 5s arenas 1v1 because blizz though mages like managing mana and didn't do anything similar for other mana users who might as well have not had mana bars at all in arena pvp.

anyways, broken gear mechanic is lulz, and my toon has a nice rump:

Well yeah, Energy and resources have to limit everyone for it to be a good system. Most games kinda just tack on mana to give the game a fantasy feel I guess.

But a good resource system adds a lot.

they meant to speed up downtime and maximize gameplay. next youll dislike that your health regens out of combat.

An energy system doesn't need to create downtime. That's not what I mean at all. I mean resource denial during pvp combat, not when grinding quests.

i think he means liek drain lock in wow where they attack the mana bar instead of the hp bar.

then the target player with no mana is out of the game/match even if he has full hp.
