I just wanted to see if you guys could give me a list of some important things you guys wish you would have known when you started playing Aion. I just started playing last night after quitting a few months after game came out and so far leveled a Mage to 8. I figure this is a good time to ask the community for some general advice.

Please feel free to provide details about certain things you feel new players really need to know before jumping into this game.

So far I know the following from reading the forums.

#1 Bots bots everywhere
#2 servers are very unbalanced in terms of population and in each server a different side basically rules the game.
#3 From the game the game was released the population has dropped astronomically and now there is only 4 servers left which are not very populated.
#4 Ganking happens everywhere.

Other than those things anything else I should know?

#1 - Nah, not true at all, there is hardly any bots
#2 - Yes, imbalance is an issue, but you won't notice much about it as time progresses and aion get's updated to 3.0
#3 - Ye, if you want busy servers, might want to try aion EU f2p next month, it'l have filled servers for sure.
#4 - Ye, generally speaking this has to do with point #3, good players left, bad players are still playing the game, 90% of the pvp is zerging/ganking with large numbers against few.
Rastekkel - Glad Spatalos <Best legion EU>
Rastekkel - Glad Nexus <Rapture>
Lolwat - Ranger Spatalos <Best legion EU>

what class should I roll If I want to improve my chances in PvP?

Better yet, which classes should I avoid?

Following classes Id like to play

Ranger
Spiritmaster
Gladiator

Which of these should I avoid if i don't want to be gimped. ?

Lastly, I'm really curious what you mean by I won't notice the class imbalance so much once 3.0. Are they fixing that?

its rock paper scissors. everyone except for chanters exaggerates the class imbalance issue. Some classes have sharper scissors or bigger rocks but rangers glads sorcs templars spiritmasters clerics and sins all have their advantages. If you wanna put a stamp on 1v1 champion its either spiritmaster or templar, ultimate cc or ultimate survival. 1-2-3-go!

Edit:

Worth mentioning that whilst spiritmaster might have all the lol you could ever want in 1v1 they are head hunted in dregion and you end up kiting instead of being able to play offensively. Doesn't take much of a good player to beat people in 1v1 with this class, especially anything with no mres at all. But in dred you need to be skilled and know when to run. Gladi/templar on other hand, still pretty strong in 1v1 and you get to be the beef in group pvp.

Is it so hard?... Dont play Aion. You realised these things on level 8. Imagine what will be when you reach 55. Common sense.
Goodbye Aion :(

U shouldnt look for best class for 1v1,cause u wont find 1v1 here unless u gonna duel ur own fraction 24/7,cause of too much zerg these days,so yea templars r best at survival but if u dont have uber gear u cant do much dmg in zergs, best option is to play some easy class, like sorc or ranger, just button mash 1-2-3-4 and 5-6 if u need to heal urself, and ur good to go even without uber gear.

Quite pointless to start Aion at this time, wait for better games in spring.

2 years ago this forum is riddled with devoted players and tools, now it's reduced to the state of... well nothing LOL.

Gotta say players change their tunes fast, hope TERA doesn't meet the same fate! Then again, alot of the tools from this game is also going to TERA... hmmm
