After the Remember video, we were wondering what was happening. Well, it turns out that the video is about multiple things. Both F2P and 3.0 (Ascension) are now coming to Aion. Here are some of the benefits of the promised F2P model for Aion NA:

If you buy from the store, then you'll be helping to support NCWest, the NA publisher of Aion.

The switchover will happen in spring, but no dates have been announced. It seems that F2P is going to happen at the same time as 3.0. Details are yet to be released. This does explain why the monthly benefits for players had to be done away with too for those who were wondering.

Also, it appears there will be more videos forthcoming as the site has places for more and "Coming Soon" is prominently displayed.

Expected, but not this soon. I unsubbed just in time, now ill wait out the couple of months and get to play casually without guilt of monthly sub costs.

I think this is what a few people will do. Personally, I won't be touching the thing - I still need to wash the taste of how bad the endgame was at 55.

Totally expected. They are copying what they did with Lineage2: sell the EU part and keep the NA part. The EU part keeps on with a monthly sub + cash shop and the NA goes "truly free" (no sub but just the cash shop).
Tbh the system worked well for L2, at least the NA section. From 1 server they are now at 5.

Let's see how many EU players will just go to NA now that it will be free.

If you had poor suport on p2p in f2p the support wil be even beter. But I guess that some people will benifit alot from rmt. In fact NCwest is working so well that I received an e-mail regarding my account security ...so I guess they are already working on those mesures, damn shame my account was already flaged for Gameforge transfer...

Lol, NA and GF forums are on flames.
I wonder if GF knew anything about this or if this is just a huge backstab.
Also this free trial for everyone that NA will offer... just when GF is releasing their servers.

If GF doesn't change something in their models, I think they will loose lots of customer.

As far as i know, Gameforge is an european company so it wouldn't make any sense if they were gonna publish north american servers...

I'm a bit concerned about the restrictions though, particular considering Aion EU's restrictions; I do hope there aren't any fineprints.
