Maybe that' why the game said that my account wasn't playable or something like that. Also, for some strange reason, I can't even log onto the game website now.

I'd ask "wtf is going on", but that seems to be the question of the day.

oooh...NCSoft shouldnt had gave the game to Gameforge because,NCSoft always updated what it was going on or if its sth wrong....btw, it takes like 34234324 hours to download the game and it took 30-50 min when NCSoft had it

This is starting to get ridiculous and blown out of propotion. I could not even imagine that so many people are oblivious to the fact and common sense.

The reason Aion is down for us European is because there is a HUGE ammount of data being transfered over to Gameforge at the moment. They are busy setting the servers up for us to play on and log in to. NCEurope is no longer in charge of the servers, so of course the original aion-site is down and you're being redirected to aionfreetoplay because that is the main-site from now on.

The reason they are being held offline is because, most likely, they've encountered an error that they are fixing. It's not just to throw a txt document in to a folder, you know. They have to configure their servers to fit their current system and hosting servers, as well as making sure all the data, all the saved content you have worked so hard to achieve is not lost in the great space between servers.

This is not something "NCsoft would never let happen!" and all that ignorant babble that goes on. They are transfering a gigantic game, with all its contents..Characters, login information, databases and whatnot since Aion EU heated up their servers for the first time. Something is BOUND to fail and they are most likely working their behinds off so you can actually log in and enjoy the game.

If you knew anything about servers you'd expect this problem that we now find ourself in. I'd be in shock and awe if it was done without a single problem.

Just thought I'd throw my two cents.

Nyerk!

Before I say anything, I fully agree with the explanation! I can imagine that it's a huge date that has to be transfered. I do know that you always get problems which has to be solved.

But my point is, it doesn't matter the time it take, caus ofcourse you get confrontated with problems and the transfer time etc. Many players doesn't know anything. A lot like to know something. I wont ask for details, those wont be given. One topic, even locked, just with an update once in a while would do a lot.
I don't speak in time, caus time disappoint players in the first place, second, you can't give an exact time when it's finished.

Unfortunately it will not release 3.0 when the servers now finally get online. However, they have gone out and said that we will/should expect 3.0 this upcomming spring :)

They are actually giving updates and such, watch their twitter and aionfreetoplay site, you'll see that they are actually working on it. I for fun went to the site, it was theapology and whatnot. I hit f5, wham, it had been updated with a link to the forum.
It's like Velvet said..It's processing all the data, it will not help at all to place 40 people infront of a server and stare at it. The reason it takes so long is because they had underestimated the ammount of data that was thrown at them.

The beta one was simple it was simply a few things compared to what they got thrown in to their laps. They started with a "fresh" database, hence it was much easier in the beta than it is now.

They just got information that stretches as far back as to '09 or even further..This batch of information contains what you did since the first time you logged in to the server (not literally!) to the very first person that hit login on to the servers.

I can imagine the huge amount of date. Black Velvet's words are true, it doesn't help, you can't make it faster by staring with more persons at a screen. Like it is a huge date, it wil take time.

I do follow everything except from Twitter. I follow facebook and Aion FTP website. It would be easy to have one topic, filled with information for all players. No one has to search. I did read the post BlackVelvet posted, to be honest, I had to search to find it.

This is just my opinion because people place so many topics, questions and they're searching too. One place will solve that problem for all. If players read the explanation in this topic, they will get satisfied for a part.
I try to see it from your eyes and from players eyes. :)

I understand mate, and the problem is that so many players also cram up the forums with spam and qq'ing that it's hard to snatch up vital information that is given by the CM's.
Fortunately, things seems to have calmed down.

I try to look in to this with an open mind, I understand the players frustration (I am one of them myself :P), but the market today and the spoiled brats running around is just....NYERK!

Dude, I agree COMPLETELY. NCS and Gameforge are transporting Crays-worths of petabytes and terabytes of data, just so you dont have to start all over again. even though it takes forty-nine-thousand-bajillion hours to download, it's just a common error that happens when servers are switching hands and shtuff. no need to blow anymore gaskets over it.

And thats my two cents aswell, which in total, including the quote, makes four cents. YAY MATH!
