So the wait is finally over - NA Aion F2P will start on April 11th, 2012 and will coincide with the release of 3.0. A video was just released today along with the date posted on the official f2p Aion site. The video takes us one more step towards 3.0 and is called Aion: 3.0 Ascension.



On the site there's still one video left to be revealed. Hopefully, it will include details of the item shop, because that will likely be the make-or-break information for Aion in NA. It looks like a newsletter for Aion has some information in it, although it doesn't include what items will be in the shop. The newsletter states:

Aion: Ascension brings with it a new feature never-before-seen in the microtransaction world known as the Customizable User Bundling Experience, (C.U.B.E.™) which allows players to make their very own bundles for purchase. Players will also have access to the Atreian Atlas™, which gives them an unparalleled level of information helpful in guiding their character’s journey through Atreia. Aion: Ascension and all of these new features launch on April 11.



C.U.B.E.

NCsoft prides itself on pushing the boundaries in providing players with exactly what they want, and the C.U.B.E. is a perfect example of this. Players simply purchase the C.U.B.E., at a standard price from the new Aion store (the Black Cloud Marketplace) and they can take home as many items as they can fit in it. Players who purchase these DIY bundles are also rewarded with bonus items, depending on the size of the C.U.B.E. they purchase. C.U.B.E.’s will be available for pre-purchase on April 4 and players will receive their new items for immediate use on April 11.

I have a quick question, i want to get a time card it would be the 60day card, but aion NA goes f2p way before that, so what would happen to my account?

According to Nyx: If up to 7 dollars is on your account the money will be carried over to the store currency. If you have a significant amount of time in advance you can request a refund - it will be refunded back using the original payment method.

It would be nice to hear from the NC West devs about what their plans are with the F2P model in NA, Are we just going to get the patches from KAion as is, or is some type of westernization planned for the F2P model. Cant recall the last time we heard from an NC West dev .. maybe like 1 1/2 years ago?

Well, they don't actually develop anything and that's why we stopped asking for interviews other than translating the Korean ones. Remember that they are a publisher and not a developer.

There are some things that could be asked to NCWest that would actually be helpful - like if they're going to up damage like Gameforge or how much quicker the patches are going to be for NA since they're only translating into English now. Hrm...
