so, is it worth coming back?

way back in the days when this game launched i played it for a while, and even being the PVE carebear that i am i enjoyed the game for about 4 months, until the post 30 grind finally broke me and i left for greener pastures.
now that aion has gone FTP i reactivated my account, had some fun in the last week or so (and it seems the horrid grind from 30+ is somewhat mollified with a lot of new quests, and i did levels 37-41 without feeling the oppressive grind i did a few years ago).
i should say: my character is an asmodian gladiator on telemachus (EU)
the main issues i have with the game in the week i've been back are as follows:
1. i noticed almost no available groups for the group content (in morheim or beluslen), and those that do form usually look for a healer or a tank (i'm not the first and way to afraid to try and step up as the second)
2. i haven't seen any decent legion recruiting around (in fact, the only 2 legions that have recruited and i've joined seem to have no one talking or even playing with one another, which begs the question of why they are grabbing every player in sight)
so, back to my topic's question, is it worth investing some time in this game again, or do i just treat it as a time filler until something else comes along?

OK, wow, that was NOT a nice response. I mean, your responses do not paint Aion Ascension or whatever it is called in the USofA in a good light. I played for almost a year at launch, also played for a week when level cap was increased from 55 to 60. My toon is gone now (apparently NCSoft was bought by Gameforge and if you didn't opt in, yr nyerk got deleted) so I am starting over. Firstly can anybody confirm that for NA aion, if you didn't opt in, your char is deleted now?
Secondly can anybody write up a 'getting back in the game' guide? There are a ton of new mechanics and regions and stuff. Do ranged classes still have an advantage over melee classes? Is cleric still PvP king? What are the general feelings around each class at this time, counting all patches and stuff?
Are crit/mboost/mresist still top mana stone?
How long does leveling to 50/55/60 take? Can I do it in a month if I play an hour daily and 4 or 5 on weekends?
thanks all. see you in the dredgion!

You should still be able to opt in for EU Aion if you login to your ncsoft account and opt in. Last I heard it took a while to transfer though. If they got rid of the ability to transfer a character over then I don't know about it. NA Aion is still run by NCsoft West and so your character should still be there. If your character isn't there and was an NA character, then somebody has been into your account or you just don't remember erasing a character.

It's surprisingly similar to way back then... even with the new mechanics. You can look in the class forums for more details about specs and classes (that includes mana stones). I also suggest that you look at the latest few patches - it'll get you up to speed about changes in terms of zones. If you're playing the EU version then you don't have to deal with 3.0 yet - only NA has 3.0 right now.

You should be able to in a month. Leveling isn't as bad as it used to be even with the level cap increases.
