tepi called me a cigar and then a gentleman the other night in mumble like 10 times in a row each. :sparkles:

and he keeps making gay jokes about me.

then other times he tells me device is so sexy or other guys are so sexy. :sparkles:

anyways i just read an article and discussion on gawker about the word gentleman. it's kinda interesting because in chitchat fitler notwithstanding, and in guild we use cigar and gentleman pretty liberally but afaik it's not so much related to homosexuality. but both as an insult that has little to do with being gay and as well as a term of endearment, the same way me and my best friend call each other newb instead of each others' names.

now in our guild i do mak ea point of making it clear we use that sort of language, and that our guild isntfor everyone, and i feel i need to make it clear after our previous merged guild experience where they talked alot about not being racist or offensive or disrepectful then would go off the handle with calling people nyerks gentlemans cigars indians mormons elves and rape and so on, all while feignign outrage if anyone else used a word or told a joke which offended them personally.

i'll say in mumble and the guild hubs, people make jokes or use words that offend me, but it doesn't give me the right to be outraged or to be an ass about it. my best friends irl are semi racist in that odd candian way, and yet i see them be more tolerant of other peoples regarldess of class creed skin colour or sexuality than many people who pretend to be above bigotry. that being said there have been once or twice i've felt the need to moderate things in those areas because i feel they go to far regardless of my own personal feelings. not necessariyl related to offensive language though- part of the reason tepi is mad at me right now i guess.

in chitchat my mandate is a bit different. and people might be confused about what that mandate is. if a word is filtered and you break that filter somehow, i'm going to edit your post, retype that word in, then hit submit so the word is filtered. if you post a pic that shows even hint of female nipples, or dick through clothing, or some other thing that others long past have chosen to set as rule breaking, then i'm either goign to edit that post to remove the image or unapprove the post. otherwise i leave it well enough alone, and that's really hte entire extent of my mandate as a mod.

now as far as the filter of flying tutty to flyign tutty, well the humour and absurdity of that is obviously not lost on me, but i find it interesting in leiu of the recent poltiical discourse in teh us where elected officials when discussing a particular issue these days are being barred from speaking and censured for using it. this is scientific word for a part of the human body. and it's odd in context of aionsource and htat current issue, that flying tutty is filtered and yet pussy is not. as well to throw pensi not being filtered in the mix. it's a bit odd, and even more interesting based on the course of events that eld to the filter- keeping in mind there are some women that no longer post here entirely because of the flying tutty filter.

now tepi is a weird guy who sometimes claims to be gay and sometimes acts all homphobic, wether as a joke or w/e who can say. btu certainly this could be satire to some degree.

in any case, there is both nothing wrong with being homosexual or gay or w/e, nor is there anything wrong with calling something lame wrong, or someone who is being super annoying and nyerky a gentleman. language is contextual dependent on teh audience, and while i certainly would not use the word gay to describe something crappy in front o fmy grandparents, i would hav eno restraint about doing so in my guild's mumble.

beyond that, just like our guilds' mumble, /cc/ is not for everyone, and nor should every place be for everyone.

anyways this is one of those odd rants where i forget the point i was trying to make initially and keep adding PS's and side notes.
