KR Aion 4.0 was released to the Korean Public Test Server on the 5th of December and the full Korean patch notes are available. While waiting for a formal translation to be done by Kalsteine, the main parts of the notes are that:

  • 4.0 will be released in 3 parts with the first going live in December (with the Gunner class), the second going live in January (with the Bard class), and the last going live after that (with the Mech class)
  • The level cap has been raised to 65 and there are skills that go with that. I asked our translator to give us full translations for existing classes of the skills. They don't include the new skills introduced at earlier levels however and English names may not be the same as the Korean names. We'll be working on getting some of the new lower level skills out.
  • There are some new areas, instances, and even a new fort

Here are some images taken by our correspondent on the Korean PTS. For those that are convinced the Gunner is a manly mans class, you may want to take a look at the Gunner trainer you hit at the first town as an Elyos. The Bard trainer is also there, although you can't yet play the Bard class.

Well, that's pretty much a GG for every other class. Faster pets, so it's now actually possible to have a water spirit & earth spirit out in PvP for that extra survivability with Swop & SS, a spirit sub that seems to work on other players (and the SM as well it seems (Hopefully it won't share CD with SS))? A root/slow/immo remover and some new damage skills :|

If anyone wants to watch how it looks like I have been livestreaming my leveling on the KR PTS 4.0 since yesterday, not much because with the livestream and without battleping I have around 600ms and it's a real pain in the ass to play.

Anyway, I'll be streaming now and then, but you can still watch past broadcasts.

http://www.twitch.tv/aenvidenka

One thing: Keep in mind that I play with 600ms at least so if you think the class is kinda slow, it's just me :) When there are koreans playing around me and I watch how fast they use their skill it's like they have WoW all the time compared to me...

Thanks for the livefeed - our guy has a fairly big ping as well, although the funny thing he noticed after playing gw2 for a while before trying 4.0 was that he had to stop for skill animations on the gunner.

The new classes don't appear to have archetypes unless they are the archetype themselves. I do find it interesting that the mech isn't included on the start screen at all yet - maybe it could eventually be a subtype of the gunner?

Which means that the mech could be a subtype of the technician. Sorry about stating it incorrectly and thanks for the correction. I just can't read Korean almost at all - I do need to learn more about it. ^^

About stopping for skill animation it is not surprising for me. I am used to playing ranger atm, so I know that some skills require you to stand still to be used, and others can be used while running. That's the same thing for the gunner. Most skills available while wielding double guns don't require you to stop (as far as I have seen, I am just lvl 32 atm), but every skill associated to the "shootgun" thingy require you to stand still in order to be used.

If I remember correctly, most of the skills that can be used while moving are described as "Instant" when you hover your mouse over the skill in your skillbar and you look at the "Cast time" information, while instant skills that can't be used while running are described as "0s -zero second-" cast time skills.

Also, I just wanted to point out two new features that I like a lot. First, you can see your opponents' mana just below their life when you select them. I am not sure if that will work if you select a player from the opposite faction though (after all you can only see the level of players from your faction, this feature does not work when you select an ennemy). The other feature is that the gunner has a skill, which I have in Alt+1 in my skill bar, that removes the cooldown of other skills (the skills that I have in Alt+2 Alt+3 and Alt+4 in the latest vids).
So basically, those 3 skills are on the same cooldown (if I use one of them, they will all 3 be on CD), and if I use my Alt+1 skill, it removes the CD on all three skills. (But then Alt+1 is on CD so I can't use it anymore).

I will try to level up a little bit and discover the 2 new maps, but as far as I could see, there are 2 new forts on one map and one fort on the other. And there are about 10 NPC Camps that you can take control of on each map (they either appear blue or green on the map -Asmo or Elyos-), as a wild guess I would say that they are the evolution of artifacts but I will have to look into that.
Here's the REAL GOOD NEWS : I don't know if that's a feature of the PTS server but in those two new maps, I haven't seen any PVP OFF zone yet. The sword icon under the minimap never has the big red wrong-way sign thing over it.

Thankyou very much for sharing those videos, i really appreciate it.
What i find difficult to understand is how the lvl 65 mythic abyss jacket only cost 92745 AP while the eternal necklace is over 2.3mil AP?

That is because lvl 65 mythic abyss items are available only for Commanders / Governors. You can't equip them if your rank is lower than that.
But as you xan see, you can't enchant them. That's why they look so OP (the spellbook has a basis of 1250 MB when the eternal one only has 950). Basically having an unenchanted mythic abyss weapon or ab enchanted eternal weapon it's the same thing. You just save the money, but if one day you need your APs for something, youre kinda stuck...
