For a while now, last 5 or so games I've noticed an extremely aggravating trend. I've always been an Alt person. Normally having 3-4 or more max level characters (Except for Aion, obviously)
Normally I did this because I enjoyed multiple classes in a game and didn't want to settle for just one. However, recently this has changed. I can't find myself enjoying ANY of the classes I try. I try each and every one and just find them lacking in so many ways. I'm beginning to think I'm doing something horribly wrong, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out.
Take GW2 for example. I have 6 80s, 1 73 and a level 40something. I don't like ANY of them. Each class I find dull and lacking. I nitpick on all the problems I have with each every class and end up hating all of them. This is starting to happen in every single MMO I play.
Am I the only one?

i doubt you're alone but it may be a matter of accepting the classes for what they are rather than comparing them w/e previous game class(es) that you found to be perfect.
i would suggest though that if you have that many toons and you don't like any of them it may be more the game than the classes though.

I find I usually start a class, get it till a high level, then realize "oh, I like another class better", and proceed to play THAT one.....which means I wasted my time with the first. Did this with first Aion, then Rift, and now GW 2.
This signature is OUTRAGEOUS!

i usually pick a class in beta but i am bad at really trialling out classes in that time.
i often pick classes based on style or aesthetics.
like rift i picked warrior because of the idea of a medium ranged to melee fighter with a bit of atankiness, but that got nerfed.
then in swtor i picked juggernaut because single saber force user is so iconic. but got to endgame with it and found it boring for alot of stuff, maybe due to poor class design though.
then in gw2 i picked ele in beta, but came to terms with it not being realyl nukerish so i tried warrior at low levels. rifle warrior felt me nukerish but when i got to high level found that the utility selection didn't really make for an interesting ranged class.
so then i went mesmer but i tell you i spent alot of money power leveling it through crafting cuz generally speaking i am awful for leveling alts. i did really enjoy the game play of mes more though.
with ps2 it's expecteed you play w/e class suits the situation but i kinda stick to one class at a time tweaking nyerk out and then move to the next one.
technically i've only rerolled in 3 games now, l2 wow and gw2. in l2 i was driven by the playerdriven nature of the game, wow i thought it was kinda crap the first time but liked hte look of tbc so i gave it another chance with mage which a friend played and looked cool. in gw2 i was driven by m guild and the fact i didn't have to pay a sub, and that it felt like my irl cash investmets were actually investments instead of pissing money away.
with rift i had started a rogue for ranged stuff and i liked it as it was longer range with higher dps and not too much less surviability than the post 1.1 rdps warrior. but i cba to redo the same content and tbh i was finding the game dry at endgame and not enjoying the stupid wow clone gear grind.... similar story in swtor where i was trying powertech but it was tough redoing the questing content and not looking forward to the dry as nyerk wow clone endgame gear grind.

I never stick to one class in a game, and I never manage to pick 'the one' from the start. In aion I started as a ranger, then played a gladiator, cleric, sin, little bit of SM, max level sorc and again a gladiator. Can't really tell you which class i enjoy the most since they all seem to have their advantages like rangers mau, sorcs imba damage, gladis roflstomping, assassins atk speed or clerics range of dps/healing.
And like you said, lately i can't seem to be satisfied with any class. Warrior type of class is too slow and dull, while assassin kind of class lacks survivability or roflstomping like aions gladiator.
I'm still waiting for a gladiator type of class with a huge weapon that would actually swing this weapon quick, have amazing animations and be dynamic and fast. I found kung fu master in blade and soul to fit my preferences even if they use fists instead of huge weapons

i usually play everything in all games to a decent level where i know how the class will play from there on, AFTER i ding one of them to max level.
if even then i dont have one that i like playing i'll quit. Prob wait for a big patch or an expansion to come back and try again. This has been going on for years and i'm completely fine with it, theres way more games than just MMOs. And if there isnt an MMO that i like playing then i won't play one.

i pretty much never go back to mmos once i quit, except maybe wow. and even with wow i have no desire to check out the new expack like usual.
i have no problem not playing any mmo's at any given time either. i never feel compelled to continue playing a game i'm bored of or w/e just to have an mmo on teh go. i don't really understand the need some people have to keep playhing a game they hate/are tired of just because to have a game on the go.
