Hey,

I've been playing sm actively the past six months and encountered having a few issues with spirit sub. I often get damage still as if I'd be using spirit preserve (damage due to casting delay - upto 4 hits after I get the buff on).

When using the skill i've had it go on cd without me actually getting spirit sub or still receiving damage. I mostly use windspirit as it's the one spirit that "should" keep up with me (tho this doesn't always happen due to nyerkty pet pathing).. I just wonder if anyone has had any issues with this skill or could tell me if there are any known issues that occur with some type of pet etc.

Could anyone also tell me spirit sub range, wether it breaks when pet go's out of range and wether pet skill queue up can affect the use of spirit sub?

Hi.

As you've noticed, it's not a simple thing to use the sub. You may use the skill and not get the buff at all. However, if done right, you will get it instantly, without any delays.

Controlling the pet:
It's a good practice to always keep your spirit in "Manual Mode", so that it doesn't automatically start attacking targets that hit you. For this it it also important have have spirit commands "Attack" and "Move" keybinded. After you kill a player, the spirit will usually stay near the corpse so you will always need to manually retrieve it using "Move".

Using Spirit Substitution:
Spirit can use Sub on you from 15m away and the skill also only works if you're in 15m range of the spirit. The skill works for 2 minutes until the spirit disappears and doesn't break unless dispelled. To have the best chance of casting and receiving the buff, I suggest you always use the "Move" command before using the skill. There is a certain bug where the pet's 1st attack will not be performed, or if there's too many skills on the queue. Using "Move" should cancel anything that was in its queue. Among other things, make sure that your spirit is in your proximity, and that it's not CCed in any way. Btw, it's safe to use the skill during the spirit summoning - I've had no problems jump-shotting earth spirit summon and using spirit sub.

Well ofcourse I use manual state. I send my pet upfront often in places like eye to aggro mobs so they dont touch my stone skin, using automatic state is just for derps u.u.

When I use spirit sub I ussually keep it on follow, but still get issues like posted below alot :/

(Didn't pop sub for gje specific, but ran into him when trying to get away from a zerg).

And I always jumpshot my pet!

And if it's 15m range than I'll just blame stuff like this on pet pathing.. :/

Of course I can't play it when I'm playing SM. And SM > All.

From the looks of the screenshot, you got sub on you but.. Inescapable Judgement was already en-route when you got the buff up, so it still hit you. Also, you took 2x370dmg from the Blessing of Wind, which is internal damage.

Oh, another thing I noticed is that, you shouldn't be moving away from the spirit when using sub. Or starting/stopping movement. As you know, you sometimes get the error "Target out of range" if you try using Sympathetic Mind the moment you stop, even if the spirit is right next to you. The spirit probably gets the same if you stop the moment you use spirit sub.
