There are certainly other PvE related things to get on with when you level up in Aion (instanced Dungeons for example), however to get your paws on the really elite gear you will need to engage in a bit of PvP in the Abyss to get the points you need.
I believe the max level in Aion is 50.

We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.

It focuses on PvP in the end-game but there's also raids/instances and they will be added in future patches as well.
Graphics are a billion times better than WoW's cartoon graphics.
For more info about classes you can check out the wiki to see their skills etc.

The Raid gear is amazing from what we've seen so far, and the stats are just a little bit higher than the crafted gear (which is amazing at it's highest level too).
For PvP and PvPvE you'll want to work on your Abyss set which has stats focused towards PvP and gives bonuses against other players and not against NPCs.
It's a full faction based MMO, a lot of players think that AION is going to be a sandbox PvP focused game, but the developers are saying otherwise. AION will be a big expansive world that caters to all types of players, I think that's why it's really going to be successful.

Edited to add: Yes I did read that here so I wasn't loosing my mind. The servers in Mainland China have all closed due to a contract thingie. New servers are due to open up again later this month....but what do you think those annoyed players are going to do? Start their entire WoW career over again when the new servers launch and replay a game they have already played for years? Or start something new and play Aion, the hottest new MMO on the market?
I think the term "WoW killer" is right on the money when it comes to Mainland China...

Agreed, and what frustrated me more was that I never get to raid because most guilds raid on wednesday/thursday, right after the reset. I have to work then so they would never accept me in their guild, lol. I'd do PvP but WG is so predictable, there's no fun in it and the BGs are also kinda boring.

Don't take me wrong, WoW is an awesome game, but it's just somehow not as rewarding as it once was. I'm also not very fond of the policy of closing up PvP into arenas (and 2v2 arena players can't get the newest gear any more either) and giving out high tier gear for badges every new patch.
I'm hoping Aion will bring some feeling of novelty and challenge. Something I've been missing in WoW for a while. If it will succeed is yet to be seen. :)

I totally agree with you on that. WoW was and is a nice game, and it remains very popular, but raiding being on times i wouldn't be on, pvp only in the same situation each time ( battlegrounds, O_o) and the fact that the world was known to its core, slowly made the beauty of the game dissapear for me. A fresh start in a game wil be interesting.

Same with my friend.
Well he didn't go as far as cancelling his account but he used to be like : Yea whatever, it'll be some WoW clone...
I gave him a beta key so he could check it out and now he's gonna play as well.

1. Level up
2. Run Dungeons to get better gear
3. Run better dungeons to get better gear to run better dungeons to get better gear..
2 weeks later, your gear you busted your hump for = outdated...
Rinse, Repeat.
YAwn.
Let's not even go into the horrifically childish graphics of that game. Granted they are pretty nice graphics, but they are very juvenile. Aion, has AMAZING graphics, and concepts you wont find in wow.
Not to mention the fact that everyone and their dog plays wow, it's so over saturated now. I just think this game is a new refreshing MMO.
And let's be honest, yes there will likely be some similarities to WoW, as WoW was a great MMO having plenty of great things to offer and if it's not broken don't fix it. But I think MMOs need to evolve again and I feel that Aion is the evolved MMO.
I wish you luck in your decision and just remember, play what you will have more fun playing. A game is meant to relax you and pass time... Don't take it too seriously. HAVE FUN!
