Anyone have pictures of the symbols that appear on the mob when applying each level of signet with assassin? :D

:study: Been looking everywhere but I can't find any. The search function in this forum does not work for me either. Thanks in advanced for help.

It's kinda hard to actually catch the symbol in a screen. I know when you chain it you can see it pop around them.

Watch from 15 seconds on. You'll see the symbols appearing on the mobs body at 20 and 21 seconds.

If you are talking about pattern icon I can link you that in a sec. Just have to look through SS folder.

For those of us who play on high res monitors and like small UI scale it would be nice to see a large numerical character on these icons. I'm not sure how much NCWest can do in terms of modifying the artwork though.

I play on a high res and have no problem, its already very simple, no reason to make it noob proof.

Noob proof and readily distinguishable are very different things. I'd like the number to larger myself.

Noob proof is what they have done with skill chains, where the damn skill pops up next to you alerting you that you're now able to proceed. You don't see people saying "OMG that's a noob feature" though, and it's because NCSoft put it in the game to start with.

Too many people think that requesting additions to the game means it's noob or carebear, even when it's nowhere near as noob friendly as many of the already present features in the game.

It's already so simple, I really don't see the problem. Also those skills popping up next to you is actually pretty nice, because it gives you the option to click on them right there, instead of taking up space on your skill-bars. Your forgetting that not all skill-chains allow you to just spam one button to go through the chain. There are some that can go multiple ways.

You can call it noob-proof, or just an addition to the game, but putting numbers on the little green boxes is gonna be pretty ugly and dumb looking.

Maybe some people didn't notice in the video. The actual animation for the attack shows the number of engravings on the person your attacking. You'll see one engraving symbole, then two, and finally 3 in the video linked above.

I agree that the icon they provide is hard to distinguish but for now it looks like the number of engraving symbols that apears during the attack should be enough to track it. I would hope they change up their icons to not all be gree in the future.

Whether or not you can strum through a Skillchain with a single button isn't my point. The point is having a giant icon pop up next to your head to notify you of something is the epitomy of noob proof. Not that I have any complaints, I think it's a good feature to have in the game since it essentially plays the role of what an AddOn in other games would do for you.

I'm pretty sure the amount of people that would find a clear pattern number/icon helpful vs. "ugly" would outweigh the latter 10:1. It's nothing to really get worked up about. In reality if it were bothering me that bad I'd go into the system files and manually change it myself.

Assassin is a class that you can clearly see the difference between a noob and a skilled player, so for me I don't wanna see anything that makes it easier lol. I honestly see them changing the symbols in the future though, but I just hope its not numbers, and maybe some cool symbols.

Agreed, I really don't see how its n00b proofing it by making the icons stand out more, even if it was a better distinction of colors (green to red). An engraving bar (think WoW's Combo bar) would be even better, but with it sharing a similar pool this may be more involved than it needs to be, especially when only 1 class can do it.

Still though, if you compare a better icon vs a silly popup "hit me now" button I would definately see the improved icon as far less n00b proof. In reality, most "hardcore" players dont click skills at all.

Lol I think you guys are failing to see the point of those skills popping up next to your character. They are NOT there to say "hey, you can use this skill now!" They pop up in the location so you can CLICK on them right there, and not have to move down to your hotbars or take up space on them.

Also everyone's playstyle is different, some people click, and some don't. I use both, so its nice for me to have that feature when I randomly decide to use it. Instead of moving the mouse down to the hotbars.

If you've actually played Assassin maybe past the nooby levels you will know that this isn't a big deal at all, because its so simple already to follow the 4 easy colors. Also this is not a discussion comparing it to other features in this game, I clearly did not say this game had no noob features. If its not broke don't fix it.

love how your logic is so flawed Dragon :)
doesnt matter if some ppl click or other dont. if your clicking skill im sure youll have your mouse over the hotbar anyway. so having to move it all the way to the middle of the screen would take even more work then.
also some ppl might not have a great moniter or something along those lines. i got a small prob with my eyes and i sure as hell cant tell how high the assassin is on signets in that vid.

im 100% sure that if NC doesnt do anything about it some person will make an addon for it.

LOL, your so wrong. I move with the mouse and the keyboard, so my mouse is always right next to my guy, lmao. You have no idea how I play, so that reply was well...

Also stop judging it by youtube vids, play it yourself, get 20-30+ then judge it. You do make a point about small screens, I can see them having a problem.

And if you guys would read my posts I clearly said it would be cool to have some better symbols, but NOT stupid numbers.

Also again, learn to read forum posts, I said everyone has there own play-style, so you have no idea where my mouse or other people's mouse sits.

thing is your complaining about making it "noob-proof". while we are just trying to improve a small feature that is hard to keep an eye out for if you have a bad moniter of anything like that.

while you do use the auto-skill that pop up next to your char which is a pretty "noob-proof" feature in itself.

I run a 1440x900 resolution 19" screen, so not big, but not exactly small either. My assassin is lvl 23, and with the rotation I use, I get irritated with the signet icons on a regular basis.

Aion Armory Spell (sorry for the crazy spell link) is the only ability I have which can engrave signets 4 and 5. Because the symbol for 2 signets and 3 signets are just different shades of green, I end up wasting my Beast's Roar putting up the 3rd signet, instead of the 4th as I was expecting.

Sure, I'm gunna get flamed for being a n00b who doesn't pay enough attention and deserves to fail, blah blah blah. But the simple truth in game design you want your game to be accessible to as many people as possible. People with slightly bad eyesight, color-blindness, or just smaller monitors will have trouble knowing what their signet stack is at. And honestly, having a pixel that changes color instead of an actual number or changing icon is just damn lazy programing.

As for getting an addon to fix this, last I heard, there will be no third party addons allowed, so unless NCSoft fixes this themselves, we're stuck with it.

My 2 cents.

Lol, that was like....umm.... 5-7 posts back....?

I AGREED (make it bold and caps for ya) that giving it new symbols would be a good idea, but not little numbers. Which is also just my opinion, so I dunno what the big deal is.

That's true and I agree. They definitely could've done a better job implementing the symbols.

Now im even more confused about how Signets work! lol i was hoping it worked like Combo points in WoW, spam a move generate points use a finisher...... id like to see more bxes show up so you can count the boxes to see what signet your on then just a minor colour change, if its a colour change go from blue to pink or somthing so its a whole different colour not just a shade

There are specific moves that generate combo points, and within those moves, some can only engrave up to level 3 signets (aka the move will not be able to put more than 3 combo points on a target). Aion Armory Spell is an example of this.

Some skills, like the Beast Roar I linked in my last post, can engrave up to level 5 signets (5 is the max level you can have). The typical strategy, since they are all on short cooldowns, is to cycle your level 3 and level 5 engraving spells to get the fastest buildup of signets.

For example, at 23, I start my rotation with Beast Roar, use Pattern Engraving and Aion Armory Spell to get the signets to 3. At that point, Beast Roar is almost off cooldown, and when it comes up, I use it, thus getting 4 signets in 6 seconds. The higher level you are, the more options you will have for applying signets faster.
