"AionClient has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
error message. Now, today I got and installed a new Video Card from Sapphire. The make:
HD2400 PRO 512M DDR2 AGP VGA/TVO/DVI-I into my HP Pavilion a430n. It's an older computer, but all the specs are up to date, except for the 2.2GHz CPU. I was advised that the CPU would not be a problem, but perhaps I was told wrong? Isn't that just called 'overclocking'?
In any case, can anyone tell me whether that is an appropriate Video Card? And if so, will the disc I got within the package install the 'very latest graphics card drivers for your system' recommended in the top post of this thread? I assumed not and went to this site: http://www.sapphiret...sgid=335&pid=77 to pick up and install all the available patches for the Window's XP US downloads... all of them, since I've got the space and I've no clue whether there are any there which are NOT needed. That said, needed or not, a few of them have refused to install because... er... lets hope I remember this correctly: "it did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or operating system."
Tell me how that can be, when I just put THEIR hardware in my computer just hours ago followed by the DVD of their drivers, and finally, I've only downloaded patches off of the XP side (that's my OS)
Or am I just stupid? Please, feel free to tell me THAT'S the problem, because at this point it would be a relief that at least there was a reason! lol
FYI, I am now re-downloading the AION program again, under the advice of the top post of this thread. Looooong download process there.
Basically, my question is, can someone help me get Aion up and running before my beta key is over for the weekend? I don't know if the info I provided so far helps, or simply bores, but I want very badly to join you guys in this game. I've been fighting this out and it sounds like so much more fun to fight those nasty monsters!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I am attempting the advice on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/ and am posting this info in case others have the same error message. Hopefully this will work. If it does, I'll let you know. If you have any further advice, please let me know. I am VERY frustrated :P

Have you attempted to disable all start up applications as suggested in the second to last step of Question 14 in the FAQ page (first post of this thread) ?

I just tried that, and still no launch. AionClient officially hates me. I don't even know what the heck to try next. I'm sorry to be a pain, but what do I do?

I read on the ncsoft reply to gameguard error 114 that "C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion\bin32\AION.bin" "C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion\bin32\GameGuard\GameMon.des" should be exceptions but for some reason mcafee doesnt have an option for just certain files to be exceptions, only .exe files but this is an issue with mcafee so ill work on that from a different angle.
This error is extremely frustrating and any other help than the linking of the same answer found everywhere would be appreciated.
system specs if they help...
Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit)
2GB Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz
Nvidia Gefore 9800 GT thanks again

- I know this is a silly question and you've probably already done this but I have to ask...are you right clicking on the NCSoft Launcher and running it as the administrator?
- Have you checked your Aion log file to see if there are any clues at the end of the file? You'll find the log file in the directory C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion. If you can copy and paste the last few lines that have a time stamp associated with when you last ran the game client, that would be helpful.
- You should also add the file called "Gameguard.des" to the trusted list in your security software.
- Do you play other games that use Gameguard? (for example Rappelz)
- What firewall product do you use?

Yes I am and user account control is turned off because its annoying.

Actually having trouble finding this file. Does it go by another name? I forgot to mention that the aion folder is in program files(x86) and I have no clue if that is affecting it.
You should also add the file called "Gameguard.des" to the trusted list in your security software.

I dont play anything else that uses gameguard but i have in the past..maybe 2 or 3 months ago (removed GG and the game) and i remember having the same problem and fixing it but i have no recollection of how i fixed it. would it be helpful to download another game that uses gameguard? And I do have that file but I can't figure out how to put it as a trusted file on mcafee. For some reason it only wants to put whole programs as trusted not single files. It specifically says "add .exe file" and has no other options.
What firewall product do you use? firewall product is Mcafee total protection
edit and thank you for replying so quickly

- Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
- Type "MSCONFIG" without the quotes, and click "OK". This should open the System Configuration Utility.
- Go to the "Startup" tab and click the "Disable All" button.
- Next go to "Services" tab and check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" check box, then click the "Disable All" button.
- While you are looking at the "Services" tab, scan through to check whether there is a process called "nProtect Gameguard". If there is, make sure this is disabled because it relates to a previous Gameguard installation.
- Once these items are all disabled, click the "OK" button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

And as for that whole list of instructions I did that but it still came out at error 360. :( this makes me sad but I really do appreciate your help...I guess I will just keep messing around with settings and such until it works
-------------------------
lol ok I have no idea what I did but after I did that enabling and disabling of the startups and services I changed it all back to normal and decided to run aion again. I did the same thing 3 times. error 360. I decided to do it once more and by some miracle it finished the gameguard patch and I was able to get to the login screen. GAhhHH all day spent being stressed out and then it goes and just decides it will work like nothing is wrong...I love technology...I literally changed nothing. Didn't turn off any firewalls, anti-virus apps, or anything of that sort. WEeeEE O-o. I really to appreciate your help a lot Aion Bunny.

1. Which download method are you using? (NCSoft Launcher? Fileplanet? Other?)
2. How long have you been sitting at 10%?
3. What does the downloader say your download speed is?
4. What operating system are you using?
