Currently lmao... do you guys really need 36-48 binds?

I use qwse to move.
Why not 'a'? because when using '1', which I do with ring, I can't strafe left anymore. with qe-strafing, I can use '1' with ring and strafe left with middle. So my middle is bound to qw23 while my ring is bound to 1qa.
This way, my ring, middle, and index are closer to 1(ring)23(middle)456(index), I bind some random skills on ad. I have rise & fall on r & f (access with index), ascend/descend on mouse's buttons (right thumb). The only modifier I use is alt (left thumb), I could comfortably use shift as well ; 'comfortably' meaning here 'being able to move in any direction if needed, and not only one or two, and without getting a cramp in next 15 mins'.

Pinky is only used for tab-targetting and VoIP on what is for me '²', '~' for qwerty I think.

Really, I don't see the point of binding skills like buffs, or abilities used less than twice a min... eventually potions, but it's not like it suddently have to be used in the next .25 sec or death... such abilities can be prepared for use, clicking isn't so bad (for example, on my templar, Stunning Strike is bound to alt+5, sometimes I click it, sometimes I use alt+5, I doesn't disturb in any way) Oo

Coming from L2, I like and am used to click-to-move, so I'm just begining to be used (understand 'with Aion', as it's the first game I play with keyboard moving) to keyboard moving.
If some want to make me a noob, they can try, but I probably won't change, it proven that it's efficient enough, even vs chineses 1 second ahead (latency).

yu should roll an assassin if you want to headbang keyboard to kill people ;p

Yep, just slam your head on the keyboard and something will die. Either your enemy, your character, your computer, or you.

I found out, from extensive DAoC and CoH/CoV gaming, that I rarely use the camera while I fight, but I do move a lot while I fight.
So I ended up putting most of my combat skills on the num-pad and don't use the mouse while in combat.

As Aion will use combat in flight, I felt it important to keep my fly-up and fly-down keys handy, for easy 3D maneuvering, it made a world of difference in CoH/CoV. It will make even more difference in Aion, I think.

The skills I need to be able to use while using the mouse, I put on W,R,T,X,C,V... these tend to change depending on my character's needs.

I love dual assign for some keys.

I don't think my attachment need much explaining... or does it?

Edit: For those having trouble with their G#-Function Keys on Logitech keyboards... try to macro with letters/numbers only... some symbol keys don't want to work. That's what happened to me with the two keys after ...,8,9,0
Thus the double bind to free letters that I never use.

I recently moved all movement to the mouse and am liking it so far.

It's a Logitech G5.
The two side thumb buttons toggle the wings and jump/glide.
The two top buttons move forward and backward.
The wheel side movements for strafing.
Turns and rise/falls when flying are by mouse movement.
The mouse also has a wheel push button but I don't have a use for it yet. It's suppose to default to a 'behind view' camera movement but I haven't found that to be true - that issue might just be my mouse.

Anyway, this seems very quick and natural so far..... for me....

Left hand does everything else basically on the keyboard. I took away the movement keys since they are now on the mouse. Except I just got a Logitech G13 and am playing around with it. Nothing to report today :)

On a side note I'd like to point out to clickers and KB turners that 2 of my friends were like you until I cured them... They were playing WoW during this time and they were terrible PvPers. Hell one of them was even playing with the arrows... The shame I know. I went to see them and basically put together a couple basic binds combining mouse and key setup. 2 weeks after they were both VERY grateful one of them was even starting to compete in PvP. Now he's a Top PvPer and would never go back to clicking and KB turning. Thing is, these guys are either in denial /stubborn or they simply don't know just how much efficient binding is.

Not a bad setup, easier for all the WASD people to get used to than what I use, which takes this to a bit more extreme levels:

Movement: TFGH
Hotbars: QWERASDYUIJK / ½1234567890+ / F1-F8
Targeting/Pet commands/weapon switching etc: ZXCVBNM,.- OLP
Inventory and others: Alt+QWEASD and so on

Another good thing about using WSAD over ESDF is that u can get another modifier easily accessible for your thumb if you remap your start key to cntrl.
Programs like KeyTweak can do this for you.

I prefer to use the numpad for all of my attacks, though this game is one of the rare few where I am running out of buttons quickly and that is becoming a problem...

I don't think it has been mentioned yet that you can remap your alt or control key to caps lock which I think is very useful. There are guides on how to do it online, but if your aren't comfortable making registry changes I wouldn't recommend it. I use an N52, so for me the easiest way is to use the d-pad for modifiers.

pinky is always used for Shift as this is my Teamspeak key, has been for years, I'd also use it for cntrl. ESDF does indeed give more options, but its just being botherd to get used to it.

It would be good to know specifically WHAT people are binding to keys apart from just "oh these are my action keys, I realise this would be different for each class, but there must be some similarities, like pot usage?

haha.. i tried an n52e about a year ago... i just didn't like controlling movement with the d-pad... and also it didn't stick to my desk very well and would slowly slide across the desk as i played (because of the pressure my thumb had to apply to the d-pad to move), then i'd end up with my wrist in a very akward position and have to reset it every 10 minutes or so lol.

i could have used the regular keys for movement and the d-pad for abilities... but that just seemed to defeat the purpose of having a nostromo in the first place.

I use a n52e and I love it. :D The trick is to not use the d-pad for movement. Use it for your skills and assign your wasd keys elsewhere like you mention. Im able to bind multiple sets of 4 skills to the d-pad for (up/down/left/right) etc by using combination key bindings holding different keys down with a finger on the gamepad while pushing the d-pad up/down etc etc etc. So for example, my first 4 skills would just be up/down/left/right, the second set of 4 would be alt+(up/down/etc), the third ctrl+(up/down/etc) and so on. Just with the base set and the 2 following it, that's 12 skills with one d-pad. (your only keyset limit is how many combo keys your pinky can keep track of) :P And if you're good, and your gamepad allows, your d-pad has 8 directions and all 8 of them can be binded. That's 24 skills/actions/pots with a single d-pad with the base set and 2 combo keys to be held down with the pinky.

Also, it helps to assign skill sets by skill types etc. For example, on my cleric (lvl 22) my 4 main heals are assigned to the second keyset which is the alt+(up/down/etc), while my main attacks are the base set. Oh, and umm if your mouse has extra buttons, don't neglect those either.

So I dont know if anybody asked this yet, i didnt see it in first 3 pages, didnt feel like looking at the last 3, but has anybody found a solid hotkey flight? I binded c and v as take off/land in OB and thought it was pretty good. just want to hear what others came up with?

I put the flight toggle action in one of my UI bars and binded "E" to that hotbar slot. Makes it simple if you play with WASD and have left "R" and "F" alone which should move your character up and down when flying by default.

I've finally made the switch over from gamepads to keyboards, and I have to say that it actually does make things easier. However, I'm still searching around for a setup that allows me to do everything I want effectively...and I've haven't found it yet. So, I thought I'd ask around for how you guys do things!

I move with the left hand and use skills with the right hand, but one problem I've run into is that since I need to turn on NumLock in order to use the numeric keypad properly, I can't use SHIFT + (insert key number) because I get the numbers instead. Is there any way around this? (short of not using the numeric keypad)

Also, how important is being able to use the mouse to look around during combat?

Anyway, as always, looking for good ideas and tips. Post your setups!
