They are a sturdy damage dealer. They are like the soldier in team fortress, they are not the sniper, they are not the hwg, they are all the all purpose smackdown character. More is always better, they are not a liability like an assassin or a squishier target could be, they do enough damage to be noticed.
I would consider them the primary upfront damage class of this game, if only bcause they have the capability to be 'up front' and always present, as oposed to the softer targets that dont have the staying power.
The glad is a battleship, the assassin is a submarine, and the sorc and ranger are missile cruisers.

Out of 3 rounds I never died once. First target was always Sorcs, they spent more time running away from people than doing DPS. Then the SM's got dropped after (If there were any), followed by the healers. Was so much fun, never enjoyed myself so much in an arena match. Glad is defo my class. I couldn't imagine being a Sin or a squishy Sorc at all.
1 v 1 it's not so great (Well at level 20 anyway)
Sorcs will rape you, as well as Clerics and Chanters since you can't out DPS their heals unless you're VERY lucky with knockdowns. Not sure how much this changes later on, but for now just being decent in group PvP is all I want.
