Hey everyone,

This weekend has been really scarce on beta giveaways, but we have managed to get a couple. Look for a couple very small giveaways today and (maybe) tomorrow to distribute the few that we have. :)



Now onto the less fun, yet main point of this news.

People have been abusing the reputation system thinking that they have anonymity. While the user you are repping may not be able to see who is leaving it for them, we certainly can. So let me give a blunt reminder;

All of AionSource.com's rules apply to all of AionSource.com

If you are Trolling, Flaming, or Insulting in reputation posts, you will receive infractions just as you would on the forums. Impersonating other forum users by signing their name in the reputation commentary is also considered trolling. The reputation system is in place to add a helpful element to AionSource. Abusing the system by rep trading, intentional and excessive repping of the same user, or trolling will not be tolerated.

We want to keep this system in place but if people can't use it for what it is intended for, we'll all go back to a single gray box.

If you are being harassed via the Reputation System, please send me a PM so I can take the proper action.

I'm a little shocked that people actually care about a virtual reputation system. How do you determine if something is legit or not if it's an opinion? What are the exact criteria you are using to evaluate reputation validity?

The rep system has been abused for a long time. I don't post in accordance to the status quo and I am not an AION fanboi, so I get a lot of neg rep, but whatever.

Just remove it already. The old way was fine. If someone was an idiot, people knew that by what they posted, if they were a useful human being, people knew that as well.

I personally ignore the system for myself. I've used it for other people but it doesn't really mean much, and a little red box under someone's name (who is an actual idiot or troll) only encourages them to post more garbage, not to change their ways.
Given the farming threads of late, green boxes don't mean much either. In short, it makes more work for the mods, and doesn't add anything other than some color to the forum.

It worked the old way for years, I say don't fix what isn't broken.

I strongly agree with this. Please remove the rep system (which promotes trolling) and the post count ranking system (which promotes spam) if this forum is supposed to be somewhat professional. I only visit forums for MMOs that I play (or plan on playing) and I have never seen any with such silly features as what was added to this one recently.

Also, the rep system is so flawed it's ridiculous. I see people with high rep by exchanging it with other people or by posting one funny comment while others are in the red for expressing their opinions which were thoughtful and informative but people ranked them down because they were fanboys that disagreed. It's just a popularity contest for trolls and spammers.

Reason I'm complaining is simply because I see so much spam and trolling now compared to what I saw last month and it's only getting worse.

I think that, if worked on a bit more, the rep system could be very useful. It just needs a bit of reworking to get set right.
