Some players enjoy playing Click to Move, some players enjoy the WASD-Movement type.
Click to Move is not the best choice, when you have to travel a long road - You can press W and just go there.
Or you'd had too click on the ground every time.
I think they should implant both, since some players prefer click2move, others WASD.
And i'f im correct, but im not sure - You can disable the click 2 move movement.

Presonnally i use wasd. That leaves my right hand free to move the camera/loot, and hit a chain of keybinds which i normally put on the number pad. also using wasd makes it real easy (for me) to just stick that pinky out and tab target.

People have different preferences. I've played with both styles and I enjoy WASD a bit more. Especially when I have this bad boy. I can Macro WASD to the D-Pad and the Hotkeys @ my fingertips. ;D

However with the amount of movement during PvP from the videos I've seen so far it might possibly be better to use wasd (since you can't click air...). I'll have to wait and see...or just set 2 different sets of key bindings that, on the Saitek, which I can switch with the flip of a button.
Either way i'm glad they give us the choice, and now it becomes just a matter of preference instead of conformity.

I like using both systems mainly cause i have got so use to the hole click to move aspect. I don't think they should say you have to have this or that. i want the choice. also if they do make it just wasd I want them to implement a auto key that makes the char run forward with out you pressing anything. then you only need to use one hand. I just don't like having to keep holding down the W key to get anywere.

You had better believe I'll jump around as retarded-like as possible if it helps me kill you faster. Those vids are made as demos...mostly to show an example of what combat looks like. That's not necessarily HOW people will conduct themselves during combat.

There's no point in jumping or moving around if Aions combat settings has your enemy locked onto you. People will just combo you while you're running and jumping in circles..
If you look at the videos your character is [locked] onto your target (like in FFXI) all you have to do is hit W to follow them.
meh, i dunno..

If aion is like this i will NOT play.... If aion is in anyway similar to any of those F2P or click to move games that lock on or don't require much skill i will not play... Please take WoW's movement and combat systems... *prays to god*

if you are on a 2h warrior or pally that takes 1.9 seconds to swing his axe, in between swings are you gonna stand there taking damage? hell no im gonna jump around like a moron and only get near him every 2 seconds

A number of skills are on separate timers from auto-attack. I've never seen a serious PvPer jumping around... it's not a shooter, so there's no point. The only time people jump around like retards is when they're retarded with boredom, waiting for a BG to start or running mountless. The way WoW does combat and movement is fantastic, imo, especially since line of sight and positioning play such huge roles... it makes everything far more active. I've seen a lot of videos from different games where people basically just stood there bashing each other using their skills, rather than trying to get positioning on them. Maybe they were just stupid PvPers, though *shrug*
Anyway, I prefer WASD not just because I feel like I have a lot more control over where my person is going (I'm telling them where to be immediately, not clicking where I want them to be 1-2 seconds from now, which actually does make a huge difference in fast-paced PvP), but because with wasd movement the game feels a lot more like I am the character, rather than me just controlling the character. See, click to move it seems the games are generally zoomed out more, you've got more room to click, character models then are smaller on the screen, and it feels almost like god-mode controls in an RTS. With WASD you're generally right up on the character's back moving them around as they would see it. It feels a lot more like a controlling your character in an FPS than controlling one person from god-mode in an RTS

actually you're quite incorrect. If you watch the PvP videos you can clearly see a caster being able to turn around and run the opposite direction, kiting it's enemy. That means you are NOT locked facing your opponent but your targeting is locked (these two things are not mutually exclusive). So I can turn and run or jump behind you and your character will not auto-face me. I even read in one of translated reports from the beta players that they noticed that being at a different angle (lets say...behind their opponent) changes the accuracy and damage. While the devs never announced this as a certainty, they did acknowledge that it does have an affect.
And actually Marchosias, your positioning DOES matter in WoW PvP. Certain skills for Rogues for example (Backstab) can only be used when behind an opponent. Also..if you're attacking someone and they walk behind you..you stop attacking them and can't use any skills (this is true of all but casters).
