So I received a trial code for L2 for my CE digital preorder of Aion - which I ordered in addition to my CE box since Amazon is sometimes weird about shipping - and I want to try it out since a lot of people keep saying that L2 players will fare better in Aion's PvP.

Now I know I won't become "pro" with just a two week trial, but I am hoping to at least gain a greater understanding of what open PvP is like before Aion goes live, but I've been mostly a PvE'er in the past and a little experience is better than none at all.

So, advice? Suggestions from those who have played L2 and enjoyed it?

Wel 2 weeks is going to provide nothing. The game is heavily clan/gear/level based and the game is grind heavy. Unless you buy an account and be able to join a guild that's active in clan wars/castle sieges. It's pointless to even try.

Don't get me wrong L2 ob to c4 is probably the best MMO experience, I have ever had. The early c1 days might be the best gaming experience ever.

The game just became broken after c4(hell it wasn't perfect before c4 either) and the community died.

The pvp was perfect, the pve was just too hardcore.

Imo, don't bother.

In two weeks you wont get to experience much unless you bot 24/7 and buy either adena or gear/full accounts straight away. As 2San said, the game is heavily lvl/gear/clan based.
Playing the game called "Real Life", no time for Aion.

ALL you need to KNOW is that RANGE ATTACKS /w Healers+Support WILL PWN ALL.
Example of an L2 Team Setup

Buffers
Bladedancer
Sword Singer
Warcryer

Healer
Bishop

Attackers
Everything Else: Archers
or
Everything Else: Daggers
or
Everything Else: Nukers

Now your going to be asking urself why daggers? because they can silent step to the enemies position and sometimes 1 hit ko the enemy.

Don't say dont bother, it would still be a nice experience to get some lowbie stuff out of the game, you can easily hit lvl 40 in 2 weeks.

But if you're only going to be low level you'll want something that can solo easily. I'd make a nuker, dagger or orc fighter, or maybe Kamael (I'd probably recommend this the most), and you'll pretty much just be grinding mobs for 2 weeks, with a few class change quests (similar to the level 9-10 quest in Aion), and play with the music on...I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Also be sure to log in on the weekends during siege hours (you can make chars on various servers), and in most towns there are these NPC objects you can talk to that let you spectate a castle siege, it just puts your camera on the siege zone and you can move it around.

If you really were inclined, you could find out when Antharas, Valakas, Baium or Frintezza raid bosses spawn, and ask Heroes (they will have a blue, global chat) to find you a summon to the boss, It would require a lot of ticking people off, but it might work ;). Raid boss PvP is the best of what L2 has to offer.

yea cause you can be summoned to those bosses....

oh wait, no you can't. you can't even do the quests without being 65+. and you will just be killed on site anyway.

Actually I'd recommend finding a high rate private server so you can get a feel for the characters and how they're used. If Good Vs Evil is still running, try that one, since that set up is similar to how Aion plays so it might be better practice than a proper FFA environment.

In terms of classes for pvp, the most fun ones are probably the ones that are least played (tyrant, any of the tanks, gladiator, overlord, summoner etc). For group pvp you will always get a group as a bd/sws or healer, but won't get any kills. Every class needs support to really shine so if you play a private server you can at least get whatever buffs you want without having to worry about having a team behind you. The most overpowered are ofc the daggers, nukers and somewhat archers (although they were finally nerfed recently), but they're not as fun. Imo.
Aion - Asmodian - Chanter

Lineage II - Teon - Phoenix Knight/Shilien Saint

Retarded much? Theres non-stop PvP outside their lair before the boss spawns, unless you're on some garbage server. Who cares if you die after getting summoned to 4sep, loa heart or toi 13, you can still watch.
