GM responses in red
1) We know that based on a users current IP they will either be directed to na.aiononline.com or eu.aiononline.com Depending on which one of these sites they land at does that determine which server relm they will belong?
Where they purchase their key determines where they will play.
Ex: If I am at eu.ncsoft.com and create an account will I be forced to play on EU servers?
If you purchased an EU key from the EU site yes you will be on EU servers.
2) In the NCsoft launcher there is an option to change the region between North America and Europe. Is this how you determine which server you play on
This will determine which authentication you will be sent to NA or EU. Your account will only work in the territory you purchased it in. If your account is not working perhaps you are trying to connect to the wrong territory.
3) Are the beta keys / retail keys what link our accounts to NA or EU servers.
Beta keys behave the same way as retail keys. It has nothing to do with the site you visit the actual key itself determines which territory you will access. Think of it as two separate games Aion EU and Aion NA both with their own unique keys.
4) I live in EU but want to buy NA version but can not because I always get directed to eu.ncsoft or amazon.co.uk can I:
a. Have a friend in NA set up the account for me and turn over account info
Friend could buy you a key and you apply it at eu.ncsoft.com it will recognize it as a NA key.
b. Use a third party company to buy a NA box.
Yes same as above.
c. Use a proxy to trick the ncsoft website
tricking ncsoft is not cool.
5) if there is a difference between the NA/EU client could you please link each one. I tell everyone to read this but still receive a lot of questions
Clients are identical minus region specific language packs.
If you have any further questions please respond back to this ticket for a faster response.
Hope this helps you out and look forward to seeing you in Aion!

Can I just switch the Launcher region to North America, or do I need to download a 'US' client?
From what I read the clients are the same, as such I am unsure what to do.

If I end up getting pretty into this game, I'm thinking about playing it on the Korean or Japanese servers so I can practice a foreign language and not feel as bad about all the time sunk
Edit: I know I'll have to go through the Japanese region website and set up a new account, then buy a key for that region

I'm a European residing in the Philippines, and i want to play AION, and so far i haven't been able to find a satisfying guide on whether and how that can be done. Either EU or NA servers would be good, i guess, NA would be a better choice. So can AION (either NA or EU) be purchased and played in the Philippines, and if yes - how (a step by step guide for a 5 years old either here or a link to an existing guide or a PM would be nice)? I have a European credit card and a Philippine IP address, would these facts restrain me from NA servers?
Thank you very much in advance :)

You can't mix anything between NA and EU. The account management is most likely not even run by the same people, thus they are completely separate.
If you want to play on NA servers, you need a NA account (NA version of the game) which would presumably only accept NA timecards.
If you want to play on EU servers, you need a EU account (EU version of the game) which would presumably only accept EU timecards.
