I think it would be cool if soulshots dropped from mobs.

Soulshots really made Lineage 2 different from any other game and I think Aion should look at this a bit harder.

I think soulshots should be easily attainiable or atleast have it so one of the 8 proffesions can make them ateast.

Making soulshots extremely expensive will not be as fun.

They do drop from mobs. I am unsure of the frequency though.

Yea they do, just not very frequent, which is ok, since they're meant to be a gold sink.

You can apply them to a weapon, different weapons take different amounts of soulshots.

After you apply them, your next attack does more damage, it could be 2x damage, or 3x, or whatever the devs pick. They automatically re-apply to your weapon as long as you have enough of them in your inventory.

SSs were basically a way to ensure you always landed a critical hit, weren't they? Cool idea, bad implementation, IMO.

Uhm, I don't think so, I'm pretty sure I still got critical hits using SS. :o

But, I'm a bimbo so I might be wrong.

You... don't like them? :D

Well, I don't either, they become basically a necessity for PvP, which I find stupid.
It makes it so that if someone has them, you have to have them as well in order to compete. :(

SS and SpS were not a way to land a crit. SS and later SpS were used to increase the amount of damage done in L2.

In Aion, they appear to be craftable by anyone, so I don't think that they will be the money sink that everyone is looking for.

To end the discussion about L2 SS's SS = 2x damage but the SS requirement for weapons increased / decreased depending on which weapon you used.

Does anyone have the equivalent for magic users? Do SS also work for spells? How about skills?

I abhor money sinks, particularly Soulshots. Here's hoping Aion devs will either lower the drop rate even further or completely eliminate any chance from mob drops. Frankly, it was a bit difficult to accept the fact that Soulshots are making a reappearance in Aion -- increasing their prevalence in the game will only exacerbate it. My opinion.

If we're lucky, they'll realize the error of their ways and remove them completely. O:!

So let's start a petition to bar soulshots? :P

Someone can translate it into Korean and send to the devs or something..

I thought you could craft SS from the thing that you gain from fighting monsters? You know? The stuff that dissapears when you log out but you can trade it and it is used in crafting? I forgot whats its called -____-

EDIT: DP? hmmm maybe Im totally wrong cause in th faq it says that ist only for combat. Oh well.Maybe we can craft them some other way?

Lol could be like the soul shots in Rappelz, when you gather essence from monsters after you kill then then trade it in for SS. Cheaper than a money skin though.

Stupid Soulshots! Away with them! D:

I really don't see SS disappearing from Aion as it is a money sink and mmo's will have a big money sink.
I had a dream about you and in it i eat you

There are many different kinds of ways to introduce gold sink. You don't see people complaining that the final storage space upgrade costs 200k quina.

The problem with soulshots is it unbalances the competitive aspect of the game and turn it into a time over skill fight of who grinded more. It worked in Lineage II because quite frankly L2 offered nothing besides grind. We tend to think, or hope, that Aion is more than just indefinite grind.

Soul shots sucked.... They were annoying animations that caused lag, and made you **** all your money away...

L2 was hard enough to save up any money without having to buy those constantly....

i just lost a little bit of my love for Aion XD

Ill still play but my heart just sank a little :(

after nearly 4 years of playing L2 (still do) i was so happy i wouldnt have those around anymore >___<

they are stupid, but they balance out certain classes. L2 has a fairly delicate balance right now. Also the animatino looks cool.

They double'd your damage, in the case of mages, spiritshots did 1.5x damage, while blessed spiritshots did 2x damage (it might have been 2x/4x).

As you level up your consumption of them per shot decreases, and the price to craft them (and the level required by the crafter) increases. It reaches a point where if you arent farming at end game, you wont be making enough money to buy them...unless you already have a ton of money, but you will be losing it. Some people use lowergrade weapons outside of pvp just to be cheaper. Also you are limited to how many you can carry...because you get debuff when you are overweight, so the balance of chars also depends on how many shots/poitions/consumables they can carry.

I think there's a slight misunderstanding here. 'Soulshots' in Aion are not really comparable to their counterparts in L2. In L2, soulshots were a 'necessity' in a sense, while in Aion, they're more of an 'optional' commodity (hence the high price) that one does not HAVE to use to hunt efficiently. It's more suitable for PvP and such occasions. Soulshots in L2 were monopolised by a race, while no such concept exists in Aion. To point out a couple more flaws, in L2, one had to have top gear to be able to kill mobs at an efficient rate, compounded with a hyperinflated economy which made it near impossible to get anywhere or even level up unless you did your daily grind to accumulate enough dough for teleportation and supplies (potions, soulshots...). I really don't think soul stones/shards (영혼석 - Aion's name for 'soulshots') will play the role of money sinks in the game, seeing how their role is designed to be much more diminutive than their counterparts in L2.

I think they will still be a moneysink, just a small one. I heard they have a long countdown, so you only use them when you need to...ie: you might die, or save them for a pvp. They could end up being a really high price to make them a money sink, but like you said they aren't essential for exping like in L2.
