Aion has been crashing for me, which is of course very annoying. This only ever happens inside cities. It has been rare enough not to give me too much trouble, but recently I've moved to Morheim and I've had 3 successive crashes in a row while walking around the city picking up quests :angry:

When it crashes it gives me a Windows error saying "Aion has stopped working" and a pop-up from Aion for sending the log file to NCSoft. It says something like "error while attempting to write at address ..." if I remember correctly. I can post the log next time it crashes if that'll help.

Normally an error like this would indicate RAM problems, especially because my PC is overclocked. However it runs stable for an hour of simultaneous 100% CPU + 100% GPU usage (Prime95 + FurMark) and I've also scanned my RAM with memtest and it shows no errors. So I really have no idea why this is happening.

I use 64 bit Vista and have 4 GB of RAM, maybe Aion is unstable on 64 bit OS?

i had exactly the same prob... the only thing which helped me is that i downloaded the 9 gig client and reinstalled it completely that means the ncsoft launcher also.... u have to uninstall both aion and ncsoft launcher first via programms in the ccontrol panel

It just happened again (FUUUUUUUU-), the log said "Write to Location 00000000000 caused an access violation". FFS, I can't move around in Mornheim at all :(

My PC isn't that good and I get a lot of lag in cities. I think it's when the game is particularly slow it crashes:

Athlon X2 5000+
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon 3870 video card.

Got 4gb Ram, 64 Windows and a Radeon HD 3650.

Bump for great justice! This problem needs solving.

More info:

- I never get disconnected.
- I never get crashes outside big cities, or in smaller/emptier towns (like Ishalgen or Altgard).
- When the game crashes it's always the same error ("Aion has stopped working" Vista message, and one more message from Aion to send the log file to NCSoft).
- I can ALT+TAB in and out of the game as much as I like, it never causes any crashes.

My PC is not overheating because I tested and it can run on 100% CPU load (Prime95) + 100% GPU load (FurMark) for hours without any errors in Prime95 or artifacts in FurMark. Besides, no game can actually make your system use 100% of it's resources all the time.

Also, setting Texture slider to Low DOES prevent all crashes, but the game looks really bad this way...

same problem here usually crashes center of Pandaemonium and Altgard, i sometimes get error message ingame text of the NPC and game then crashes seconds after

I have exactly same problem and from what I can see, we all have AMD/ATI cpus and gpus, 4GB of ram (like it could matter), but different OSes (architecture wise).

Here's my spec:

AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE @ 3,62GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4890 @ 1000/1090 running on Catalyst 9.9
4GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz CL9

running on Windows 7 64


Let's hope it gets fixed asap.

I heard a rumor it was an ATI card/driver issue. I have a 4890 and have the same issue.

Yea your right.. Same issue here. ATI nVidia are having issues with Aion as far as I know. I have been back and fourth with Aion support whole day trying to find a solution.

I've said previously it crashed only in cities, right? Well, the Shift+F12 trick has solved this problem. However it crashes in any crowded area. Today I got my first crash outside city. Exactly the same CryEngine error. There were maybe 30 Elyos on the screen and a bit less Asmodians, and I crashed. Obviously I don't want to Shift+F12 in a fight!

Could it be because of "Optimize Char Detail" that's supposed to change char quality on-the-fly depending on the number of people on the screen and FPS you're getting?

I dont think it's an ATI problem. I have the exact same problem and I'm using a GeForce 9800. I'm also on Vista 32 with 4GB RAM. Maybe its a Vista thing?

I have this problem too. This needs attention. I cant lead my legion when the game shuts down every 30 seconds on a castle siege.

No matter which graphic settings i used its still the same. The game just closes down.

So the low textures is no solution for me.



Same happens when i teleport to another region and alt-tab in that short loadscreen time.

Same, computer can run the game great. Morheim eat my face with crashes, Panda does too but a bit less...my PC meet/exceeds all specs...it simply crashes. Def. game side and no a PC problem...I have an nVidia card btw...

i have vista 64 bit,
with the Intel i7 quad core runing at 2.67 ghz
6GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX280( 1 GB )
and it crashes, all of the time, its so frustrating it comes to the point that i dont want to play anymore cause it crashes to the point that i want to :cry: :angry: :flames: and the worst thing is i play with a friend who has a laptop and he has no problems but my hand built one that is more powerful crashes and This hapened all the way through the beta for me and sending those logg things i think is a placebo affect and that they dont actually read them cause they was a point that i crashed like 10 times in one day and i didnt even get a message from aion when the game crashed on war:online a few time i got a message with like free stuff and a apology for the inconvenience that this has cause and assured me it was going to stop,like a week l8er no crashes at all next time i crashes ill make a copy of what it said to see if anybody else understands whats going on because it really should be crashing for any of us?!?!?!?!?!

I was just told from NCSoft to disable all startup items and disable/remove NOD32, quite stupid if you ask me, I will try disabling the antivirus but I doubt that is it, my game worked perfectly before the last couple days. And disabling startup items is just plain stupid lol

It is your video card. LOTS of people with ATI have been having major issues with crashing only in cities- myself included. A friend of mine is Australia is having the same problem with his computer. Yesterday I switched my card from an ATI to an Nvidia and i have not crashed a single time since.

Also I have heard Nvidia cases like this- but they seem to be much less frequent

Awesome but, I am retarded to pay myself a new video card when I paid for the game telling me radeon is fine...

This is aions responsibility they should fix this.
