The Aion FAQ has been updated with new information concerning beta testing.
The entry is now as follows:
When will beta testing begin?
In lieu of beta testing, Aion fans will be given opportunities to participate in a small number of Preview events before the game’s release. In addition to soliciting player feedback, the Preview events will help prepare for Aion’s release, as well as provide a great gaming experience on launch day and beyond.
As with Aion’s release date, the schedule of these Preview events will be announced in coming months.
More information on the Preview events, including sign-up opportunities will be made in the near future.

I was talking about strapping people into chairs with VR sets over their heads and forcing them to play Aion to see if they went into comas. Don't know where you got beta out of that. :S

thats sad news, but there`s realy no need for long testing. it`a just a localization. anyway now we know how they gonna do it.

Controlled experiments? so it's like they let us download the client and create a temporary account to let us test a quest for them, then they close our account when we complete the task?
Seems a bit wasted...still it is a cookie I would like to taste very much.

It's nothing but clear really. I can understand, or at least guess, the reasons behind this sudden change of name but it makes everything very confusing.

Personally i'm not sure what's going on, so i'm waiting for the next bit of news to clue me up.

As much as i've thought about getting slightly annoyed by the possibility that there is no EU/US beta.. I'd much rather have them do it their way and be confident that the game was polished and ready on release.

I just had an idea.

What if they're avoiding beta so they can show off and say "look, we had no beta but our game is better than those with betas! Ha ha! You all lose, Aion winz."

lol.. I can almost see that happening. But surely they must atleast have some open stress test both for NA/EU when it draws closer to our release :)

No, Canada is banned from Aion.
