AMD Phenom X4 9950 BLack edition has recently hit shelves. At 2.66 gigs per core here are the specs.

The attached actually shows it beating out the CORE 2 EXTREME QX....

SOme of the higher resolutions the Extreme beats out the Phenom slightly... but throught the boad it is give and take between the two. At $235 bucks it is cheaper than the Core2 Quad 6700 and MUCH cheaper than the Core2 EXtreme...

It is about damn time AMD

AMD is catching up to Intel's current generation but all signs show Nehalem making even Intel's current CPUs look like crap.

Sorry but showing us Benchmarks of Games with a Quad PC proofs nothing, especially since nobody will play on 800x600 (when he use a quadcore lols).

Well this is AMD's "last stand" against the Core2 cpus. The new AMD generation CPUs are rumored to be announced late this year and launched early 09. They are based on the PS3 Cell architecture, well at least that is what they hinted at. Codename "Bulldozer"

Same goes for the AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black edition, it comes with a open multiplikator.

weird choice of procesors for that benchmark, I dont know why they left out the E8400 and the Q9450...those are probably those most popular ones out now.

It was mostly comparing the quad CPUs. The black edition 9950 states that, "it is easily overclockable to 3.0gigs." Of course at 135 watts you will need a hell of a fan to cool that puppy down.

That was a 9850 BE not the 9950. As refrence the 9950 is about 5% - 10% faster than the 9850. :)
