I am having trouble selling the idea of foods being super useful for grinding and/or pvp. Is anyone else having this issue and any advise on how to better educate my customers?

Give it time, people have started to buy my food since I've hit 200+. Although it was worthwhile to use it earlier, the food I can make now is just too tempting not to use.

Selling loads of candy!! Transformations ftw.

Anyways, the real reason for people cooking is of course: DP Jellies. Hell yeah.

Aside from the dp jelly thing I dont see food being that worth it. Thats why I am only doing it on one toon. The buffs need to be bigger especially at the lower levels for me to even bother with this at the lower levels.

The thing is, the different food don't stack, if you could use like several foods at the same time, then it would be worth it.
Still, im making loads of cash out of candies.

They are worthwhile, take example the 30 Magic Boost and Accurecy Food, 30 Magic boost result in 2,5% damage boost, if this isn't much then what the heck much do you want? PS end game they give 50 Magic boost and thats equal to an 4% DPS increase you wouldn't have at all.

On my server the 30 Magic boost food cost 1k Kinah per 30 min, it's very cheap to use for those who don't want to level cooking.

I'm personally running around with piece of food and drink every time, I'l use Physical attack + HP & 9mp and 6hp per 6 sec buffs. They help a TON while grinding.

But yes for those who don't know, you can use A 'drink' and 'bread' ( the icons ) at the same time.

By the time you can use that food it's the equivalent of about 1, maybe 2 manastones. Even if the food were a 5% DPS buff it still wouldn't be very great. Maybe in a raid or something where you're trying to squeeze every benefit you can no matter how small, but for leveling and normal group content? Not worth the bag space. Cooking buffs in this game are as weak as WoW, but the craft costs the same as every other to level and uses up one of your two masteries. Double or triple the stats, then people would start to want food.

Rare quality food = 5-6 of the same level manastones.

Food is worth it. A stack of food takes up one bag slot... surely you cant be *that* low on bagspace.

Level 30 food and manastones example:

[ITEM]Bacora Sushi[/ITEM] = 2 MBoost Manastones and 3 MAcc Manastones

[ITEM]Chikra Sandwich[/ITEM] = 2 MBoost Manastones and 3 MP Manastones

[ITEM]Brax Steak[/ITEM] = 3 PhysAtk Manastones and 3 HP Manastones

Not quite. The first is 1.5 MBoost, almost 4 Macc. The 2nd is 1.5 Mboost, 2 MP. The third is 1.5 attk and 2 hp.

Basically, food is equivalent to the manastones you would put in 1.5 of your items. The blue recipes have better buffs but you'll get better stats and more manastone slots on your blue gear. It's a pretty pathetic improvement imo relative to the cost of leveling the craft and the inconvenience of repeatedly using the food (which is temporary). Food buffs need to be doubled or tripled before the craft will be decent.

No it's not. Magic Boost increases your base damage, not your DPS. Assuming you had around 1500 Magic Boost to start with, 50 more would increase your DPS by 1.85%

While I would like to see an increase to cooking stats they are not quite as bad as you are saying.

level 30 food and level 30 manastones as this is my current bracket in cooking and character level:

sushi= 30 MAcc and 30 MBoost =6 MAcc stones (+5MAcc each) and slightly under 2 MBoost stones (+16MBoost each)

sandwich = 30 MBoost and 120 MP = slightly under 2 MBoost stones (+16MBoost each) and 3 +MP stones (+40 MP each)

steak = 6 PhysAtk and 120 HP = 3 PhysAtk stones (2 atk each) and 3 +Hp stones (+40 HP each)

Because no one really buys food it is pretty cheap. Yea its temporary but you only need to pop it when you are doing some serious questing/grinding..

Also note the small stat differences between a green crafted item and a blue one...
For example: (level 28 armor so fitting with the level 30 examples above)

[ITEM]Worthy Durable Titanium Chain Gloves[/ITEM]
Physical Def 107 Magic Resist 43
Evasion 59
Magic Boost +10 Maximum MP +43

[ITEM]Worthy Noble Durable Titanium Chain Gloves[/ITEM]
Physical Def 115 Magic Resist 46
Evasion 63
Magic Boost +14 Maximum MP +58

The difference:
Physical Def 8
Magic Resist 3
Evasion 4
Mboost 4
MP 15
and one manastone socket (which is the biggest benefit IMO....)

Food is a great, cheap way to buff up your player. People have the mentality that its crappy, and thus it feels crappy. BUT when you look at the other ways to improve your stats, I think it stacks up nicely.

*I'm pretty tired and I'm not in game, but hopefully all my numblers are correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong.*

I think the biggest reason people are so down on cooking (and this is just my opinion; rip me to shreds, as I'm sure you will) is WoW. Cooking in WoW was effing amazing and the stats you got from food buffs were worth purchasing food or leveling cooking. Food was REQUIRED for most raiding guilds. I think compared to the food buffs in WoW, the food in Aion seems weak to most people. But it isn't; it scales quite nicely with the rest of the stats in game and can really supplement players.

Just my two cents.
Hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race.

Uh, what? Food in WoW was horrible and on par with this game. It didn't cost anything to level though which is what makes Aion cooking so bad.

Food in FFXI, now we're talking. A real profession on par with the others.
