Google Traductor

Nice translation... it's the exact same one Google did.

I said in the first post that it was a translation from that site. And you can't say that it's the 'same' because on here it's actually correct as far as the names of the items.

I don't really know what you were getting at here.

Definitely a little off since sometimes it takes more successfully crafts to lvl such as in the 300 range it said it'd need 18 crafts to gain a lvl was getting a lvl every 19-20 successful crafts personally.

However as a rough guideline it's quite useful.

How much of a time sink is it to do 1-40 with the 1p order? When does it get rediculous to even bother? lvl 20..?

I generally go to 30. You still usually get 1 point per order up until there though you might skip a couple towards the end. The work order goes white at 31 I think and that is when you need to be really determined if you want to keep going with the free one.

Im picking this guide up at 105, im hoping this is a decently accurate (or at least semi short on mats so i dont overspend)

Doing this with a full 4000 DP btw

-------------------------

Also, do we do all of the available given mats, or just what the work order asks for?

Very useful information, thank you!

This is sort of off-topic, but what I would really love to see is a tool that calculates the (approximate?) total crafting cost for an item. Like a browser based program, where you can define the amount and price for each material that needs to be obtained (ores, gatherables, fluxes..). Then you could input the current tax %, and the tool would calculate all the vendor costs based on that, all the way from crafting the needed ingots, wires and such. As a bonus feature, all the designs/recipes could be included in the tool, so one could just use a search function to find the right item and get the material amounts needed straight from the design. It is hard to explain what I'm visioning, heh. Ofc it does not take into account the fact that critting items usually takes a lot more materials. However, with a tool like this, it would be much easier to offer services with comptetitive prices, and keep track of the total expenses and revenues. Anyone up for the job? :what:

I am at around 380 Armorsmithing, and 300 Alchemy. I would say this chart looks about right for what I have spent. I have crafted the same way that this tells you to, pretty much, getting to 115 before starting the 110 WO, etc.

Also remember, that you can make A LOT of money back selling duplicate green recipes on the broker, as well as whites back to the vendor. You can probably easily make 30-50% of your money back by selling recipes depending on how lucky you are. All the bonus materials and what not are also very nice. I have been able to make all my own armor, and I usually have enough bonus materials to make close to 1 pieces (at least in the lower levels), which is nice.

As an example, when going from 300-360ish, I managed to score 2 extra Adamantium Shield recipes (talk about lucky), 4 extra Oricalum (sp?) recipes. I sold the shields for 175-200k each, and the others for around 100k each. Boom, I made back 800+k, which is less than I spent crafting from 300-360 to begin with. And again, I also got green/white/blue recipes, and mats for myself.

Overall, crafting definitely seems worth it, and it has not been too bad of a grind (still have yet to do the 399 quest though). It has most definitely been worth it for me, for both Alchemy and Armorsmith.

Great guide, quick question though, i haven started crafting yet, but I will be soon, when you say you "miss the recepies" by work orders, what do you mean?

When you complete work orders, you get rewards. These rewards can be vendor materials, crafting materials, or recipes. This is the main way you get recipes. If you do less work orders, then you will receive less recipes. But you can always buy the recipes from the broker when people are selling them.

And I don't know why the syndication is broken on here. ><

from my experience
you can gain 10 points by doing the work order 10-12 times, it varies depending on how many successes you have.
I usually buy enough materials to do the work order 11 times, sometimes I'm spot on other times i need to buy just a few more of the needed materials, but most often I'm spot on, meaning that i will hit the next tier of work order upon completion of the 11th work order. if I don't quite make it I will do another work order, but will abandon it as soon as i hit the next tier to save money (unless the work order is more then 80% complete in which case i will simply finish and hope i get rewarded with a recipe).

I spend about 30-45 minutes doing 10 work orders
from 1-40 i do the 1sp work order since its free. I've calculated an average of around 29k kinah in materials earned this way so if your rich and 29k is nothing then I wouldn't bother taking that route.
it takes 2 hours to go from 1-40 doing the 1pt work order

having max dp doesn't affect crafting proc rates or skill ups
using transformation candy will save you about 1 second per craft since the animation is skipped
if crafting bores you and you hate the time it takes, i suggest do 10 points when you log in and 10 points when you log off, this way its not a horrible grind but will be a decent speed of getting your craft up.
also, dont bother buying the vendor recipes, theres no money to be made from any of it anyway, cooking and alchemy items dont have a lvl requirement to use so why bother making the lowbie stuff right.

Vendor crafting mats vary in price depending on how well your race is doing in PVP, that could count for some of the difference.

Question: Do you create all items for one work order or just as many as needed to fulfil the wo?

About the 1pt wo:
I'm mostly do it as long as i can, but start the next one when i reach 15 pts. This way i level my skill fast and still have the chance to get an extra point (and some more mats back). Later on i do 2 wo at once (highest and second highest). This may cost a litte bit more but in my opinion the turn-in of fulfiled wos and the getting of new one lasts longer than just do one.

Something that the list doesn't take into account though, is that what you get for completing the order often offsets what you pay to begin with (or, at least, it comes close), and sometimes you actually earn money (selling a design there is a lot of demand for for example). The only thing that can truly be costly is the expert exam, since it's a gamble and a low % of players near cap = very expensive flux costs.

I think it was more helpful to know roughly how many items you need to buy for the work orders as opposed to how much it costs. Even when I'm following this guide, I buy a bit less than what it says is needed. It will get me 80 or so levels, then I'll start buying 10 work orders worth at a time. That way I don't end up with a ton of materials left over and you get to use whatever materials you got from the rewards.

I started buying 10 orders worth doing Cooking up to 99, but dropped it to 9 orders worth, since it seemed that I'd come out with an extra. Fortunately, the orders seem to alternate between sugar and salt as the theme purchased ingredient, so I would be able to re-use any extra. Unfortunately, I came up short for the jump to skill level 2, having spent the afternoon getting half a level of XP while paying for too much soul healing.

With more evidence, at least for cooking it appears that buying enough vendor mats for 9 work orders will, at least up to the low 100s, get you through to where you switch to the next higher work order.

Once you reach the level 400, you actually proc your expert test and become expert. What are all the ways possible to reach 449 for each craft? I know you have to start doing balic recipes but are there other options that are cheaper/easier? (for example a guildie got to 420 cooking, and switched to zeller jelly and got to 449 doing those alone. Only require Aether, zeller and vendor mat)

The only recipes you really have at 400+ are expert recipes, balic recipes, and some other minor crap (cooking is the exception, it doesn't follow the same rules as the other crafts; it doesn't have expert recipes, but does have balic ones). Processing balaur parts is the cheapest and quickest way to level, and the recipes for them are easily obtained at 400/420/440. Expert/Balic ones aren't really that easy to get.

Since I didn't see anyone answer this I thought I'd jump in. The answer to your question (imho) depends on what your goal is. If you are simply trying to grind up as quickly as possible and have money to spend, then create every item you can. Every successful craft gives you skill XPs and gets you that much closer to skilling up. On the other hand, if you plan to USE your skills, then you'll want to get recipes to use - and you can get recipes by fulfilling WOs - so doing the minimum crafts needed to complete the order will let you turn it in and get the most WO rewards before you level up beyond the range of the WO. Another thing to remember is that if you get a good recipe as a WO reward (and you already have that recipe or don't want it) you may be able to sell it to recoup some of your expenses for materials. Thus, getting more sellable rewards to offset your vendor materials purchases means that you'll be out-of-pocket less if you do the minimums to complete the WO (or even, as some above mentioned, you may break even or *make* money selling the reward items).

Personally, I try to do the minimum - but ultimately it's up to each person to decide what they want.

Great guide! Have a question concerning alchemy and can't find the answer anywhere. The lesser running scroll calls for zircon powder which I have not been able to find. I did find a post in the wiki that said it was Asmodian only! Can that be true? I have zircon ore and thought I could make it into powder. Also, the greater (I think) running scroll calls for diamond powder and the wiki said it was Elyos only. Can anyone explain how to get zircon and diamond powder? Thank you!
