First of all, this topic is about a particular widespread problem where Aion crashes with a CrySystem.dll error when moving around crowded areas. This is not about whatever other problems you might have with the game. This error, as we've seen reported on AionSource, affects a lot of different systems and always have the following text in common:

It affects both AMD and Intel systems with nVidia and ATI cards and RAM anywhere from 2 GB to 12 GB. It also affects all OS's from WinXP to Win7, both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. This is not a problem caused by overheating, software conflicts (like antivirus) or outdated drivers. This is too widespread to be simply explained by things like that, and most of us tried everything to fix it. It might have to do something with Aion reaching over 2 GB memory usage and trying to go over it.
So far we know that the following things do NOT fix the crashes:
- Updating drivers, installing DX9 components, installing newest OS updates.
- Forcing VSync.
- Uninstalling Catalyst Control Center (for ATI users).
- Modifying Aion.bin to use more than 2 GB RAM as described here.
- Disabling all your startup programs.
The following things prevent or reduce the frequency of the crashes:
- Using Shift+F12 in crowded areas.
- Reducing your graphics options, particularly setting the Texture slider to Low.
Why NCSoft does not acknowledge the problem:
I expect since this is a Korean game, NCSoft West can't do anything more but throw pre-made answers at us. Perhaps they want to do more, but the GMs can only help you with basic stuff like updating your drivers and try to solve the problem this way rather than forwarding the crash info to the devs. They can't fix an error if it's in CryEngine itself.
Why I think this: if you contact the NCSoft tech support and describe the problem, they will NOT ever ask for the crash log. This seems the most basic thing to ask for so they could determine what's wrong. However their GMs are probably not competent enough to handle this so they will do basic troubleshooting only. When I said that all people with this problem were getting the same info on their crash log they outright ignored it.
If you don't believe me then just try submitting a ticket with NCSoft support and describing this crashing problem (if you are having it of course). Here's what they will tell you to do, word for word (going to next step when you tell them the previous one didn't help):
1) Use Game Advisor to scan your system and send them the report.
(they will then tell you to update your drivers if they are outdated - if not, they won't)
2) Install DX9 components from Microsoft site.
3) Uninstall Catalyst Control Center (if you're an ATI user - not sure what they tell nVidia users)
4) Disable all startup programs and non-Microsoft services.
5) Launch Aion with minimum settings and sound disabled.
(I'm at this step now on my ticket).
OK, I get it - this is how all tech supports work, they try to get the most common noob errors like having outdated drivers out of the way first. But this is not the way to handle a real problem like this
The point of this topic is to discuss what can be done in making the problem known to NCSoft devs, and also to provide a summary of all the details known. (And hey, if someone discovers a quick and easy fix along the way that will work for everyone, that's just great too).
P.S. Please post in the official forums if you are having this problem as well.

Aion™ Online :: Report a Bug - Aion crashing in crowded areas (CrySystem.dll error)
_______________________________________
EDIT: on 23rd October NCSoft announced that they are working with the development team in Seoul to fix the bug:
Quote
The error is a confirmed bug and we have been working with the development team in Seoul to pinpoint the cause. A fix is in the works but the underlying cause is very complex. The bug requires a lot of work and testing before a permanent band-aid can be applied on top of it. The development team is investigating the matter and are testing a number of short and long term solutions, including better display options to the Aion client as well as system and memory optimizations.
We will make sure to keep you updated and will let you know as our potential solutions are tested through and ready to be implemented.
