So since there seems to be so much mystery around this, I figured I would dispel some of it:

First, you must be Expert to access any of the patterns or Turn-ins. Hooray orange hat: Aion Armory Item

From AionArmory you can already gather that there are three tiers of Balic weapons: Star Dragon, Black Dragon, and Black Dragon King.

Star Dragon recipes are available for 16k apiece and feature one of each weapon type, including bows, staves, etc (not weaponsmithing but under weapon patterns). They are sold by the non-specific Shugo vendor on the northern "hidden" island.

Black Dragon and Black Dragon King recipes are random and given as a trade-in reward for Balic Hearts and Hot Balic hearts, respectively. Six hearts is one recipe of random quality and type. So far I've gotten no repeats from Balic Hearts, but I've only gotten six so far, and no Hot Balic Hearts to use for the 50 Black Dragon King gear yet, unless it also comes from normal hearts and something even better from Hot Balic.

Star Dragon items start at level 30, but have a much higher base item-level than other greens. For instance:

http://www.aionarmor...px?id=100100467 versus http://www.aionarmor...px?id=100100167

Barely less than the blue proc of worthy durable at its base value, with a proc that is superior.

At 40, you can do Black Dragon, which again is superior at base, has a good proc, and the proc can then be upgraded to King. A vastly superior set of items that create profit without depending purely on chance. It should go without saying they are easily superior to world drop greens.

Skilling up past 400:

Obviously you get the expert Adamantium weapons right away, but the real skill points come from creating your crafting reagents for Balic. Just from what the legion has saved, Ymbryne and I went straight from 400 to 443 of a possible 449 turning balic body parts into the equivalent of ingots at a 1:1 mat/vendor mat ratio.

Important things to know: The title is not at 400, it's at 450. I assume that the final quest listed on AionArmory is at 449 to hit 450, called "[Craft] Tigraki Weaponsmithing" and is given by the Heart Trader for weaponsmithing.

Grats and thx for the info, but I m currently at 299 and my question is, if the requirements for the experts quests on Armory are right?
Armory says lvl 40 single crit Greatsword and lvl 50 double crit Sword

And what are Balaur Hearts actually good for, as you mention an Trader for them.

thx in advance

I always wondered what you do for skill ups for 400-450. So about how many crafts we are talking here. I dont want this to be something stupidly hard. Its already bad with the 399-400 thing. Just how easy is 400-450?

@Moonie: They are correct. The quest has three steps. First is to complete an 18/25 Work Order for even level skill. You can fail this pretty easily as you have a high chance of failing each combine at even skill. Second step is a single proc greatsword of adamantium/level 40 mats. Third step is a double proc sword made of orichalcum/level 50 mats.

The hearts are the "currency" for higher tier balic crafting recipes. You talk to the Tigraki Weaponsmithing shugo on the hidden island and he says "Give me six hearts for a recipe!" and then you do and he does. Only way to get the Black Dragon+ recipes, outside of rumored dropping off keep bosses/guards.

@Phoenix Pinion: Assuming your guild grinds Balaur at any point, especially given that you're asmodian and they can do them in Beluslan and get tier 2 Balaur parts, you can get to 449 pretty easily. I don't know what's involved in the 449-450 tigraki weaponsmithing quest for the title yet, I will know later tonight though. It's really easy to craft, and if your AH is like ours where I'm the only expert on the server, the price of balic mats is dirt cheap because people think they're garbage and they don't sell. The chinese farmers sell them for 100-200 per on some. Takes ten scales/skins that are yellow or five horns for a point. I've made about 300-400 combines of what is essentially just ingots to hit 443. With tier 3 mats I'd be done already, or with another 200-300 tier 2 mats I can finish up to 449.

Sintour,

I would appreciate very much if you can teach me how to up my armor crafting lvl from 399 to 400 cos Logi, the weaponsmithing
Expert says, "You cannot improve your craft skill any further.Try the Expert promotion test".

How do i up the Expert promotion test?
Do I need to craft certain weapons or do I need to talk to other npc?

Thank you.

Snowice: You take a work order at 399 that is brand new. Once you complete it, he will give the expert quest. It will have to be from the armorsmithing master if you are an armorsmith though, not Logi.

By the way, you hv any idea whether Adamantium Rod and Nail can be craft or not cos i dont see any design for these two items and many weapon and armor crafting need this two items i think.

Congratulations on being a skilled and successful Weaponsmith.

I hope very few will show the dedication to reach this stage so competition will be low.

Sorry Snowice, I didn't check the thread again until today.

Lately I've been turning a profit making Expert Adamantium Polearms. Sell for 4-6 million due to the 13% passive haste. Proc'd a gold for myself.

Nekid: I had to do the base orichalcum sword 4 times to get the green, but we lucked out and got the blue the first try on that green.

Tigraki Tailor gives me no quest even though I am a 449 tailor. I think as theyr emoved all single trade 450 titles, they removed the quest so the current maximum for any craft is 449.

Id lvoe to be proved wrong! lol

Edit : OK, i know where to get the balic body parts design craf. (it's at sanctum)

Where do you get the Expert blue recipes? One comes from the expert quest, but the others? I'm guessing dropped, but those are quite a lot. XD

I have a very generic question regarding leveling of craft and leveling of your character.

Would be be possible to level both equally at the same level, so what you can make, you can use at that time? It seems level 35 is the earliest you can equip an Expert weapon. Is it possible to actually level up your weapon crafting to the Expert level at level 35, meaning, have access to the proper drops, etc? Do you have to go to high level areas of the world to get these drops? How dependent were you with the broker to get the right materials/plans, etc?

I'm curious, because I rather mix crafting and leveling my character evenly as much as possible. It feels good to be able to use the items you create. But if you need to be a level 50 character in order to realistically be an Expert crafter, then all those level 35 Expert items are strictly for sale.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

As said already, Premium Weapon Fluxes drop from level 48+ mobs. So if you can't farm them yourself, you either have to buy them on the broker or have some nice legion members who give them to you for free.

So has anyone got a crapload of the same balic designs when turning in hearts? I have all the green designs, but only 2 of the blue to gold designs. I have since turned in over 60 hearts and have got at least 5 of the greatsword design and zero new ones. It's too expensive to keep that up.

BTW has anyone crafted a Noble White Dragon King weapon? I was extremely luck and on two attempts I proc'd a gold King Dagger. Wish I could do that more often :)

You cannot do this, crafting an item usually requires drops/mats that are beyond the reach of someone of the level that can use the item can get. Well, you CAN but it requires massive amounts of kinah to buy everything from the ah rather than gather it yourself.
