That most Asian MMO's either have no level cap OR a cap so ridiculously high that getting to it would take a good 2-3 years?

I'd like to look at that in comparison to Aion, most of the hardcore grinders have already gotten to at least 45, quiet a few people are already 50. I say give it another month or two before being 50 is pretty common. Even Casuals should be at cap by then. Yes there's a little bit of grind but its no where near that of other Asian mmo's, and even then Western MMO's just mask what is essentially grinding.

The thing you have to remember is this is an MMO, this is how they work. This how they have always worked, if this doesn't work for you then I don't think your in the right genre or at least not in the right game. I'm not say "Go back to ____!" I'm just saying this might not be for you.

I For one have found this game to be great, yes there are issues but all games have issues. If anything this has been the best launch I've ever seen. Actually there are fewer problems with this game then most games that have been out a year or more. So QQing about something that will be fixed(Or is fixed and is on the Test Server) isn't really going to help.

I say give this time, relax, and sit back and enjoy the game. Its not healthy to get worked up over such trivial things, your just causing yourself more stress. I think we can all agree self inflicted stress is quiet counterproductive.

I'm not going to claim I think everything is fine, I know a few very important issues that Ayase has already addressed. So on that note I say once more: give it time.

If you don't want stress avoid Fansite forums. You could be playing God's gift to gaming and the forums would still be like this.

I usually don't let other stress me.

Even the larger problems are but minor inconveniences in my mind.

But that is very true about People and Drama.

There's no way casual players like me will hit the level cap that soon.

I think 3-4 months for the "average" player.

They did the math a while back at one hour a day it should take 5 months if you really work in the one hour.

That's a pretty static way to look at it. I view casual as not being able to log in daily due to time limitations or needing to do other things.

Plus there's other factors like needing to return to town to use a broker, dying, or choosing the right level spot and potentially getting ganked constantly if that spot is in the abyss.

So I'm just sayin'. Can't really make estimates on that kind of thing, especially for casual players.

Of course its not super accurate, you can't calculate that for anyone. But that put it into perspective that if you play perfectly(Questing and grinding) 1 hour a day for 5 months then you should hit 50.

Also I'd like to note that I wasn't say ALL casuals will be there in 3 months, I was just saying that some will either be close or there. This games real grind starts after 50 to be honest, look at Abyss gear, thats gonna take at least a year cause 1.5mil AP doesn't come to quick you know. . .

PVP games have to have a level cap and to keep a health population of end game PVPers you can't over do the grind.

Well, I'm not trying to pick faults with anything. But I remember reading it will take 300 hours to hit 50, so at 1 hour a day that would take 300 days... About 10 months.

Im at about 207 hours played. I would say maybe 20-50 of them have been wasted (round ball park figure) and I predict about 100-130 hours more till 50 as more people are hitting the higher level areas to level.

The OP is dead on here, I also am having a blast with the game. I am in the middle of casual and hardcore and find leveling to be just fine. I check aionsource because at work I wish I could be playing "God's Gift to Gaming" as you said phrased it. I wouldnt say its stressful, but more discouraging to find all the bad mouthing about the game. I mean post after post of Negative Nancies just saying the same thing? It makes my brain hurt, Do these people really need to hear themselves talk over and over? lol I cant say I've seen a post about what people Do like about the game, its always what is the worst? Thats bass ackwards wouldnt you say? Its just like a cancer, spreading and spreading, all negative.

So as the OP said, give it time, just chill the game has been out in NA for 1 month and a day. Chillax.
Im not the Shooter. Im the Bullet.

Great post OP. Very true. Aion is great but in comparison to other mmos, it has a 'very' easy leveling curve.

I just wish ... instead of people comparing Aion's Current grind to other MMO's that obviously failed... that they compare it to the actual Successfull MMO's.

That is not true at all.

In my experience, Aions RvR most closely resembles that of Air Rivals. Not that we fly or anything, but the structure of that game and this game aver VERY similar. Th differnce is this games grind starts after 50, AR's grind was to cap. There cap was ridiculously high but the rewards for cap were in proportion that to end game abyss gear.

I still remain thats the best all out War game of all time. The scope of AR/AO was just amazing, that plus they had player elected leaders, and actual strategy. The game played alot like an RTS in the strategy involved, and the action was very skill based. Those two things I feel Aion is missing.

I think your idea of success and my Idea of Success are different.

EQ was successful I'd say, and EQ's grind was very much like Aion's.

AC was all grind no quests, and it was fairly successful.

I think the thing that people like you forget is when people say Aions grind is to much they also compare it to games that are overally easy or incredibly hard. They never mention the games that came before and did it right, I blame the fact that most people were introduced to the genre after the MMO greats had already passed there prime. This leaves them looked down upon, such is the case in EvE, just cause its not like other MMO doesn't mean its not any good.

DAoC was the best RVR game of all time.

PVP folks want to test their skill against other players... it isn't a test of skill with a 10 level gap that provides 700 some-odd bonus resistance from level so that the lower level player can't even land a single spell.

Thats debateble, I find the strategic point of AR/AO to be unique to that game alone. For the record Ace Online really didn't give you a crazy bonus for being high its just that you build so you can. Even DoAC was like that, the higher level you were the better gear you got the most skills. They work the same way cept for a nation in AO to be successfull you actually had to know what to do and where for people to go, not to mention those people needed to be somewhat skillfull to be successfull when they got there.
