Although I live in Europe, there is no way in hell that I'm taking a shot for something as simple as a flu.
Glaxo is still testing their vaccin, still testing, can you imagine a full blown vaccin getting less than a few months testing, most take 4-6 years before they even come into production.
There's millions of dollars riding on countries buying this vaccin from them, so of course they are trying to push this deal, but there's 0 way I'm taking it. I'm lucky I don't have to since I have crohn's, which messes up my immune system enough as it is, but I wouldn't recommend anyone else taking it either.

after talking to an infectious control doctor, i'd say i'd rather wait it out and see if i die without the vaccine.
if you absolutely have to get it, get the shot version because it has a dead strand, the nasal spray has the live strand for added fun. flu shots in general can screw you up, and they've been around for a much longer time.

Pretty much every influenza can be lethal, so it's nothing new. Like you said, i don't like the fact that the serum is pretty much untested. So you can't balance the risk vs reward factor, the vaccine could be just as dangerous as the actual virus.

No I'm not getting the vaccine. I'm not worried about H1N1, it's flu season. This **** happens every year, and H1N1 has not proven itself any greater threat than the general yearly flu. I know plenty of people who have had the flu this year, their doctor saying it was H1N1, and in a few days to a week they were completely fine. The U.S. just likes to make a big deal out of everything to get peoples panties in a wad. Fear. That's how the current government survives.

Nope, never get flu vaccinations. There's too much chance of actually contracting the flu from it, or getting milder, flu-like symptoms. Not to mention that to a healthy person, swine flu is no worse than "regular" flu.
The only people who should even consider getting the shot is the elderly and at-risk children. The reason for this is A) it has a higher chance of being fatal in these groups, and B) there's more chance of them contracting and dying from the flu "normally" than from the shot. It's a risk vs reward comparison. That being said, if you're a healthy elderly person, probably best not to get the shot.
How flu shots work is they are supposed to only introduce the antigens of a virus into your system. Antigens by themselves don't do anything, they are the part of a virus that your immune system detects and uses as a "tagging system". Pathogens are the part of the virus that can actually cause damage. With a flu shot, the antigens are injected and your immune system detects a virus because of it. The virus is then "encoded" into your immune system so that when you contract the real flu virus, your immune system detects it faster and produced antibodies faster, thus catching it before it can do harm.
This is, of course, a highly abbreviated lesson, but the basics. The problem lies in the fact that many, many times, when a flu shot is crafted, some of the pathogen or pathogen-like substance can be left in or introduced. Thus, you can actually contract the very thing you are trying to vaccinate against.

the swineflu is nothing but a lil bit stronger version of the normal flu.. ppl die every year to it and the swineflu is nothing special.. its just the media that blow it up to create panic in ppl to sell more copies of their "news" about the new plague...
i was just sick (dunno if it was swineflu or just normal flu) and i didnt take any medication (fishermans friend ftw!) and i never will for something this simple.. if you keep taking medication for every thing you read about your body will stop fighting germs etc by itselfe and you will end up getting sick all the time...
