I really don't get it, people like BrokenSHIT and rap but not this?

Oh fine I'll admit his voice is extremely annoying and bad live but awesome on albums, I know that's not a good thing but I'm not loading my ipod with live versions.

Edit: Added a better song than the one I linked (ignoring the stupid debates that usually occur in my threads.)

Because I hate the vocalist's voice.
And their album covers look retarded.

It has no real genre. The vocalist is downright strange, and instrumentally it isn't really that good.

I do like them, however. But I ca't listen too long to "metal" without a decent growl/scream in it.

Meh, it's just another preference issue.

I for one love disturbed, has the best tanking song.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WL5IRrhl20"]YouTube- Disturbed - Indestructible[/ame]

Most likely my favorites that I can think off the top of my head (in no particular order):

  • Disturbed
  • Dope
  • Rise Against
  • Linkin Park
  • Foo Fighters
  • Drowning Pool

But again, it just depends on what you like, some people just don't care for something because of X and Y reasons.

I hereby condemn you to the sixth circle of hell. Do you just listen to today's new thing, or actually have any preference whatsoever?

I simply listen to songs that I like to listen too.

Tbh, most of the time there are only a couple songs I like from a lot of different bands. Also, most of the songs I listen too from these bands are older songs.

Like Linkin Parks new album, there are a couple I like, but overall, was kind of meh.

Lol you knock on Disturbed, even though Disturbed is pretty good for its genre.

THEN you come back with Finntroll...that is not music there is no form or function to it its simply undiscernable growling coupled with droning power chords and some celtic instruments thrown in I guess to make it "unique"

It as much if not even MORESO in the realm of garbage music as Distrubed.

You are not a unique snowflake because you listen to crap music that sounds different than what you hear on the radio...if radio played music is a low bar to measure the greatness of music, than the fringe $3 garage band music of Finntroll and the like are equally bad.

Bad music is bad music.

Sry but I once love rap until I realize all they "talk" about is how boring their lives are. I can watch Dr. Phil if I want to hear about people's own life. Pull that pants up kid cause you're not welcome in a job interview.

music conversations always turn in to flames, but heres my view:

disturbed are a very good example of modern metal, they are (from a technical standpoint) very talented. they create interesting pieces, without the need for overly complex riffs or time changes and often display excellent technical proficeincy for both writing and playing 'simple' metal.
but due to the genre they play, their music is often repetetive and lacks any direction. and while its cohesive and easy to listen to, it can be downright boring. they fail to experiment, and often over produce their music so that it loses much of the metal 'vibe' that would have run through the original performances.

i like the band, but thet aren't brilliant and they certainly dont do anything for the genre. and without even trying to move into a sub genre, they oftentimes just seem boring and repetetive.

Since when have Dope, Rise Against or Disturbed been 'Today's New Thing?'

They're more 'Yesterdays Old Thing'

But on a serious note, anything Scandinavian will do for me, especially Amon Amarth and Fintroll
