Just fantastic

We added the stupidest medal distribution method ever

lolol

Really? Instead of living up to your forum reputation, would you like to actually contribute by suggesting what you think the medal distribution system should be?

By any measure of intelligence, the changes in this patch are a positive step forward. The previous ingrained practice of fort swapping is no longer attractive. If you are a legion that holds a fort, you are going to want to hold onto it because you will all get a major guaranteed reward for a succesful defence. Way more than what you might ever get from intentionally giving it up and trying to retake it at some later date (when there are no guarantees that this will be achieved). And the same goes for all defenders in general, because now everyone has a chance to earn medals for putting in the effort to defend.

And the shortening of siege times is a great thing, because it provides the intensity (and more focused strategy) which is often missing in this game, where people fight for ages at some random point without any real purpose. Now you have 30 minutes to get your chit together. And this also indirectly helps prevent zerg legions (and imbalanced race scenarios in general) from holding/keeping too many fortresses, because there is no longer the ability to roam from one siege to the next. In a way, you have to pick a focus for 30mins (you could also split your focus, but at a risk).

These changes dont solve everything, but its certainly better than the current ridiculous situation.

Arguing with beetee is silly, he just loves to complain.
But I do agree with everything you said.

Do people actually RP in open world there? I logged in there once but didn't see anything. Then again it was also newbie-central in the first month.

Actually it is a little sad. Lumiel is the unofficial roleplay community, but they hardly ever roleplay in the open world. It is mostly constrained to the city, and in particular, the taverns and inns. It's like they are oppressed.

Personally I have always been amused at the notion that a complete nerd who is playing an elf in an only fantasy game thinks that he is somehow more masculine or cool than another nerd is is embellishing the lore. The stereotypes for RP'ers are fairly ridiculous and most are simply what we call "in the spirit of the game" players. Which actually tends to make them more enjoyable PvP opponents.

So we rolled on Lumiel b/c sort of the unofficial anti-epeen-guild server and also the interjection of the roleplay community sort of upped the maturity level. Not one of us has ever been dissatisfied with our choice, even tho we are a non-RP guild.

Now how should we call this baby? 1.5.2? 1.5.1.1? Let's give this baby a name :P

Interesting changes btw, especially the tweak in sieges to allow random people to help and potentially gain something.

Fortress siege changes are all awesome.

Defending fortresses is worthwhile for both controlling legions and defenders.

Smaller legions now stand a chance at taking a fort if several go vulnerable at once.

This is a good sign.

Wow, I'm really digging this update. I'm happy the fortress defense change didn't turn out nearly as horribad as we were expecting. And I am seriously digging those costumes, Traditional American male especially.

Well, I think these announced fortress changes will quell the uproar regarding only legions getting medals for defense.
Sadly, going back to WoW :sigh:

How about having them drop of high ranked people and be BOP so that you'd actually have to pvp to get your pvp gear?

Right now you've got
PvE to get XP
PvE to get AP (or PvP at a fraction of the rate if you can actually find people that aren't hugging tower guards)
PvE forts or PvE instances to get medals.
WAR - Cellar(AM)/Sweaty(IB) - Darklands
GW - Donnie Wahlberg (PvP)

Well, these things are known for a couple of weeks now (even have official patch notes translation on off. site), so no need to bother:)

None of these things are in the patch notes, and even if they were it's not polite to bash someone for spending their time translating stuff for people who don't know about where these things are posted.

Are we gonna get pilgrim hats? I love pilgrim hats. They're so sexually repressed.

bringing up medals, I think its terrible how Damage dealers get the most benifet from the whole system.

this is a core problem and it doesn't seem like anything its going to change about it.

also most of this is fluff and I really expected some content, finally allowing pets to fly is the only meaningful thing to come out of this, it'll still be fort trading, promise.

Why would people keep trade when you get more medals from defending?

Pretty sure the legions on our server will be defending with these changes... and also the healers/support in the legions that take forts get lots of medals. If you don't, you're doing it wrong.
