I don't understand why prices are so high

first of all, i know a few dum dums will come on this thread and say "well you should farm your mats and that way you have 100% profit". this is an idiot's way of thinking. if i farm my mats and the combined item sells for less than the mats, then i would just sell the mats and not craft the item - which makes tailoring pretty much pointless.
during the first few weeks as expert tailoring, the mats to make expert combines cost a little less than the actual blue. this was a little too good to be true and basically people were churning out items like crazy until 2x flux prices = 1 expert piece.
i have no problem with this. since there are gold procs, it was fine that you broke even with every blue combine and then made a profit every time the item would proc.
last 1-2 weeks, the flux prices went up again to the point where, basically, if you made a blue, you would lose about 200-300k and if you proc a gold, you would profit about 2-3mil.
i have no problem with this. again, its basically cutting into the profit margin, however, over time there is still some sort of profit. the main problem right now is being able to push out all the gear you craft in order to actually earn the profit.
currently the prices on my server have just gotten ridiculous in the last week or so. expert fluxes are now 1mil, pure plat ores are 300-400k, even sobi fibers and strong leather have almost doubled in price. however, while this is happening, blue pieces are still going for 1-1.2mil and gold pieces 3-5mil.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND. how are people still crafting these pieces and losing 1-2mil per combine?

I don't see how ppl would pay 1m for fluxes or 300k per pure plat.
seriously. at first i thought it was just some guy buying out all the fluxes and trying to monopolize the market. however, if that was the case, the prices would drop after a few days since you simply can't monopolize at that rate for more than a few days.
its been 4-5 days and expert major fluxes have been selling steadily at 1mil a pop.

Usually the people who will pay 1mill per flux fall into 1 of 2 catagories. 1) People who dont realise how to level their craft off balic mats and have bought kinah and 2) People buying fluxes to get crafts from friends and consider it a worthwhile gamble as they might get a gold item.
People should mark up blues to a minimum of the material cost. The main problem comes from people listing items at beneath crafting cost. I dont understand why people are willing to spend time to craft something only to make a loss... I refuse to do it myself and whenever an item is missing on the broker, I craft something to fit the gap and list it at a profitable price and in a few days Ive made decent money even off blue crafts.
I think Perento is in a slightly better state than your server because when I hit expert I made deals with a lot of the tailors to not undercut eachother, to not buy stupidly priced fluxes and to not craft for people for free as they then go buy the fluxes at whatever price and when you go to craft something, any crafting fee you got paid, goes onto buying a flux at their new price. I know this sounds harsh, but its really kept crafting profitable and people still can get any gear they like off the broker, as well as there is now healthy competition between the 15+ active expert tailors - giving people good prices while we still make money.
You know people thought I was an *** for organising this too, but I am so glad I did after hearign about other servers economies =/.

On the flip side, why buy crafted items when I can go farm material and have my tailoring friend make things for me for free?
Aion may eventually end up same situation, more or less.

You're wrong, why would they be crafting things when they can simply sell the mats and get more cash.

I've got tailoring up to 430+ now, and when I priced the cost of materials for the broker price for the blues and golds, every single recipe is making a loss >.< What I don't get is why are we buying the fluxes at these ridiculous prices? we are one of two professions that need these, and the percentage of the entire population on a server those with expert in either armour or tailoring must be a pretty small.
I don't think that these prices are just because of in-experienced crafters however, there is definitely people manipulating the market to keep it this high, buying up the fluxs cheaply and releasing them back into the market slowly or simply re-pricing them. I've seen first hand fluxs being bought as I was browsing the broker and seeing them being relisted for 100-200k above what the previously. The other problem is that while people are happy enough to sell fluxs at ridiculous prices trying to sell gear for more than a few million is really difficult :/
IMO the only way to get profits back is by getting enough crafters on your server to form a union of sorts, so they can collectively manipulate the market to their advantage (refusing to buy fluxs and other materials above a certain price and sharing materials with everyone so people are tempted to buy above), cos at this point it seems like it's going to take that level of money and co-operation to get it sorted :(

Vast amounts of money were to be made early on when high quality materials were essentially worthless due to the lack of crafters but now it's reversed. Lots of crafters, some of them not as smart as others, willing to pay lots and lots of money. And since lots of greens and blues and even yellows drop from monsters, it's hard to force people to pay what an item is worth for slightly better stats when you can buy a dropped item that is just as good but drastically cheaper. If you want money now, i'd say aim for the end game crafts. Not as much competition with world drops when you get into the 45+ gear bracket. Well, that is until people start regularly doing the lvl 50 gold armor quest.
The only guaranteed way to make money with craft skills is gathering.
