I would assume that the majority of persons registered here played some mmo games before, and there is a reason for choosing Aion.
Personally I have played a few mmo's, Rappelz being the latest. It's a f2p mmo but after playing that, I realized that I would just pay my money and play a good p2p mmo. :sigh: The grind in that game is terrible and the content is extremely lacking... and I could go on and on about its many problems
The flight system in Aion looks awesome and I like the idea or realm vs realm pvp combat. Looking forward to some fun in Aion :skip:

Ive played FFXI and WAR. I left FF because i had played it for years and one day jus felt like i wanted to try something else. I'll play WAR up until aion is released i expect. I'll be moving to aion because its more the style of game i enjoy, visuals are great, the classes and playin style look amazing. The fact that it is to a degree stat based lol, alot of ppl complain about this in mmorpgs lately it seems and they all want things to be based on player "skills", thats not what i want in an rpg tho. I like games where the stats of your gear and ur actual understanding of a class and the game influence how good a player you are.

i havent played a thing (subscription wise) since WoW (2 years ago?)... played more than my share of F2Ps however... and a handful of betas, none of which held my interest more than a few weeks... :(

really looking forward to Aion... really... :D

I'm coming from RF Online because grinding in that game was a *****.

I'm going to aio0n because i like thta came play and it has a lot of content and looks like fun PvP, PvE, PvPvE( i think that's it).

All of my past experiences are in my sig. My most prominent run was with L2 (Since Closed Beta and off and on until September of '08). Honestly it was a great game, bots aside.

I'm a fan of NCSoft, just hoping they can gear towards beating cheaters a bit. They have a good deal of quality in their games however.

I am coming from Guild Wars witch I have been playing for over 3 years and more recently Tabula Rasa. I decided to take up Aion after seeing a short article about it in a computer game magazine (I forgot what one) and I decided to take a better look. Aion looked like a good game to fill the gap between Guild Wars and Guild Wars2. As for Tabula Rasa I am coming from that as it always was intended to be a stop gap. Some thing to do while waiting for Aion and to get me use to the MMO play style and because the single player RPGs would not last.

Coming from Lineage 2, definitely an amazing game if it wasn't for the botting/grind.

Age Of Conan. Overly hyped at launch and it went down hill pretty fast :\ It's a good game, but Aion is going to be awsome.

Lets see..
World of Warcraft
Ragnarok online
Shaiya
Last chaos
PErfect world (still platying)
maple story
rappelz
lineage 2
2 moons
guild wars
I could probably go on and on and on but I forgot all the names.. lol

Why aion? well because. for 1, I think aion graphics resemble ps3, and to me graphics are extremly important. the flight ability really made me want to play, but msot of all, the Races, and the Human-demon thing going on. that REALLY made me want to p;ay, see I'm looking for the perfect game. and personally, I think I found it. (perfect mmo that is..) the perfect mmo for 2009 will probably be aion.... For...
stunning graphics (and I"m not just saying that like a game maker has to say bout his games.. I accually MEAN it)
Destructive and time worthy gameplay
its balance of classes and races, I mean seriously.. how many games can say they have demons and humans. (I know there not called demons and humans but..... I"m bad with names x-x)
this game wil be the best game of 2009, and it is what I have been loking for, for over 2-3 years! (now 3-4 years lol)

conclusion: with aion coming out this year, this definetly wil lbe.. a Happy new year =]

I'm coming from mainly FFXI but also WoW. I tend to take break between each game and go to the other. However I've become extremely bored with both of them so all I do now is wait for updates about Aion. This is the game I've been waiting for. However I've not had to wait as long as some of you here on the forums. I heard about Aion in November 08. I'm really anxious for it =/

MMORPGs i've actually played so far are:
- Ragnarok Online
- JX2
- WoW
- Lineage2
- Granado Espada
- Perfect World (MY-EN)

Well, Perfect World being the latest and am desperate to quit the game. Money being spent particularly on PW is tremendous, great game but it has too many flaws. I believe Aion will be the one MMORPG I'll be playing for at least the next 2 years so kudos to NCSoft, keep up the good work. *thumbs up*

Items in Rappelz cost so much you would actually be better off with a subscription. It's like over $20 US for a helmet:pow:. I will be glad to be rid of that accursed cash shop!!!

The mmo's I've played over the years (the ones I can remember that is:...:) are:
  • ffxi
  • EVE online
  • GW
  • Hellgate: London
  • L2
  • and WAR

Currently though I only have active accounts with EVE and ffxi (which I don't play as often as I used to). Both of these games are good but they are both fairly well established so it gets harder and harder to remain at the same level as people who can long in for 6-7 hours a day. I tried WAR (and HGL) looking for a more casual experience but that didn't turn out so well:dazed: (what with HGL shutting down and WAR being a bit of a disappointment). I'm hoping Aion will be a chance to start anew in a game with a good community and good game-play.

Mm, I haven't played that many MMO's :o. I played Runescape for a week (dont hate me), Tibia for a few years (loved the old versions), GW for maybe 6 months before I turned to WoW for 2-3 years which I finally quit (thank god!). My friends tried WAR at release but I told 'em they'd be back to playing WoW within the first month, and so they were. Good call from me not to buy it ;).

I found out about Aion on a swedish gaming site, fz.se, where they said that Aion OBT is extremely popular in Korea so I looked it up a bit more and now I'm hooked :o.
