People only run it for the hat, hopes of their lvl 45 stigmas and the stigma/lv50 campain quest now, apart from that any instance feels like a waste of time in this game due to the RNG lol...

@tridge: You just got lucky, the majority of people barely see at least 1 gold, and even then they cant use it.

I must be really lucky ;P If it makes anyone feel better I've blown over 30 million on handycrafting and I still don't have expert.

Yeah! today i was "lucky". Just seen my first SR gold drop. But it was chain so nothing for me.
But hey, I have seen my first SR gold drop! Now i know that they exist. :skip:

Overall the drop rates in this game are not very good, at least in the last half of the game levels. I've played almost 8 characters to level 30 and beyond, and I have noticed that the drop rates for white (armor, weapons, accessories), green, and even blue gear are excellent until you reach level 25-30. After that, things really tail off.

Now let's talk about the instances. Fire Temple is an odd instance to use as a loot reference, because it has a short cool down timer (30 min) and quite frankly, you can 4-5 man it in 25-30 minutes. So to complain about Kromede or other boss gold drops there just doesn't work. However, move over to Aether Labs, Steel Rake, Theobomos Labs, and Dark Poeta, and you have some real problems.

I have done Steel Rake lower and upper 41 times. Yes, I said 41 times. A good group run will take about 1.5 hours, but typically you're in the 2 hour range. All of that time spent and I have seen one gold chest piece, three gold shoes/boots, and one gold weapon (mace). There have been several runs where not even a blue item dropped.

This is where I have problems, especially when you reach the captain fight. It takes time to get a group to go to Steel Rake, you're locked out for 5 hours, and you spent 2 or more hours in that instance and the boss drops are very disappointing. This should not be the case at all. Bosses should drop blue items guaranteed. Additional green and gold items along with the blue are just bonuses.

However, what you will find is that the game operates in this fashion consistently, no matter what instance you run. Even worse are the world bosses that roam the game world that you finally get a group or alliance to defeat and they drop nothing too. Again, this should not be the case. It is all a matter of time investment vs. reward, and right now the game is severely lacking in that department.

ur SR yielded a little over 10% chance to drop gold, not that bad imo

and if bosses drop blue items guaranteed, that would kill the crafting aspect of the game

u have the chance to get the gold hat, gloves, and pauldrons for running SR countless of times and at least that is rewarded for the time spent if you are unlucky. So you walk away with atleast 3 gold items if you actually put in the time to run SR many times and by that time you should have access to another instance anyways; and atleast professions will not be a waste in this game.

I lived in FT 30-36 and had 2 blue drops (the kromede neck piece) and no golds. Imo she should drop a randm blue everytime and a random gold maybe with a 10% drop rate. Items that you can use would still be rare but damn....at least they would exist.

From my experience, it can only be explained by what your group / character setup is. I have seen MANY ppl get drops all over the place and funny thing is.. its always the same ppl. Starting from lv 25 on they get blues / gold / godstones ( later on ) all the time. Not daily but like every week. They get their Anuhart set FULL ( yes i mean a full 5 piece set ) in like 10-15 DP runs. Somehow i feel that some characters are blessed with a increased drop chance, and some are actually cursed with a lowered drop chance. So if you take that into consideration, you get your droprates in those instances like DP / SR / Draupnir / Adma.

Like me for example. I have ran a total of 143 Kromede runs. Yes only Kromede as fast as possible. NO gold drops only her necklace. Tho i saw a random orange from a trash mob. Alright so who cares ill outlvl this instance fast and move on.
Friend of mine runs in with his grp that he is lvling with and boom after 10 runs he got his book. 2 runs later our friend got his orb.

Moving on to SR. No gold drops in like 30 runs. Didnt always do the Boss ( Captain ) but still not even a random drop. Group setup was random all the time. Only drops i have seen in there where some blues that would be replaced soon enough.

Now for Adma. I have been doin this instance now nearly every day, and to tell you what, i actually tried to do it with the same ppl. Normal 6 person grp got me nowhere. No drops like 50 % of the time ( yes NO drops nothing in the whole instance ) And the i started to do it with 2-3 ppl. And what do you see, Gold ring from a key boss and Lannoks 1h sword after like 10 runs. Had a ranger with me that had some REALY good dropluck in dp all the time, so i figured maybe hes gonna help me get my wep and he actually did... tho i want a 2h weapon.

Anyways, off to DP. Now i cant complain about drops here because in a total of like 15 dp runs i got 2x Noahs melee ring, Earring of Ascendence from the telepathy controller, aswell as the dagger, and the necklace from the B grade boss. Anuhart Gladiator shoulders, Blue pants and plate boots. But now get this. We have a chanter and a cleric getting theyr 3rd blue chain set, the same chanter now has 3/5 anuhart pieces(orange) and noahs ring. The cleric has 2/5. We had 1 cloth drop so far that was orange.
Sidenote: the earrings and necklace dropped of a random grp i was with.

So in my conclusion the drops in this game are composed considering your group / character setup you got with you. So i am seeing a drop pattern here wich changes with the people you got in your groupe.

But hey.. maybe im just paranoid:D

I've noticed that certain people do seem a bit luckier than others too. There was a person in my legion that I pretty much leveled to 50 with. He consistently had more drops of every kind than I did, with about 2-3 times my total kinah count at almost every level. He also got a few gold drops, and a ton of blue drops. Bosses also dropped golds for him even though we ran the same content to level.

Gold Chain boots AND chest in the same SR run (I got both peices)
Gold Groggets Bow (Just last night)
Gold Justice Staff (In my inventory)
And get this....Gold Level 35 Mace from Asmodea when I was RIFTING (I sold it to an Elyos player)

That's 13 peieces of gold that I've seen... and 5 of them I've gotten loot for. Who says the drop rates suck?
Oh, and if you get a few minutes go look any any member of Sunshine and ask them if theres a loot table.


i see what you did there.....lmao :P

world bosses drop loot more frequently than instanced is all.

^ This :cry: seriously wth lol, i grind for hours for fenri pauldrons and get nothing but grey loot, then my friend kills a random mob thats in his way and gets a stigma worth 8mil

I see they are going to increase the drop rates in patch 1.9 which is good, although no figures as to how much of an increase its going to be. Theres way too much RNG in Aion right now, whether it be loot drops or crafting procs, which is resulting in a fair amount of peeved folk who have put so many hours into the game, and having nothing to show for it, yet some players have put in probably 10% of the time as others, and are walking around with gold items left right and center, which is bollocks.

If I do instance runs that take 3 hours of my time, effort and co-ordination, I expect to walk away with at least some guaranteed loot item to show for my efforts. it might not be a gold item that I wanted, but its something usable. The way it is right now, (pug groups anyway), the only thing you end up with is increased soul heal costs LOL (if youre unlucky that is).

I hope the drop rate is substantial and thats the end of people QQ about drop rates for good.

i think drop rates are good.. except maybe for dp for example the FIRST guys to defeat tahabata got an blue hat?? now that's frustrating!!

i prefer to see less ppl with awesome armor.. that way when i obtain it ill be way more happier

I'd rather see more hard bosses that drop better loot, like Tahabata, along with better drop rates. Then when you see top gear you know the person earned it and it wasn't 90% rng based.
