The core of my beliefs though, stem from the fact that the quicker you develop language abilities, the quicker you can begin developing other abilities and the quicker you can finish education overall. Finally, the biggest point I was working towards was that I want to make the system drastically more effective for students that do want to seriously pursue their studies. Yes, I like to think my ideas do improve the system overall by at least establishing a very solid foundation for students who don't care about self improvement or education, but the true fruits are to be gained only by those who do care. See, I think Americans and other nations using a language very similar to English are lucky in that our language is extremely easy to learn so we can compress how long it takes to learn English without consequence, unlike say Chinese, where the language is so complicated and difficult to learn, try as they might, they can do very little to compress the time it takes to gain intermediate adequacy. This system is designed to give our students a strong competitive advantage over other students by allowing them to get out of school faster and gaining real experience earlier. Would you not agree time spent on teaching subjects like geography, health studies, etc. to elementary students is ill spent? If you have a reply, please reply to the same blog post or on my wall, otherwise, I probably won't see it.

In my blog post, I was speaking entirely in terms of what the education system can accomplish. No, I am not saying the system has no means by which to encourage or motivate students, but attempting to motivate all students is a much more difficult task as there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution to accomplish this. Some students are simply more naturally motivated than other students and not all students are motivated by the same things. I was speaking in terms of the best "one-size-fits-all" solution I could think of. I do think language is one of the foundations of a successful education, because through language, not only can you access other disciplines, but you gain privy to the information resources of the world ( granted they are translated ), most importantly, the internet. Without a firm grasp of language, education is simply limited as it is difficult for such students to learn or gain access to other resources. The earlier you develop intermediate language abilities, the earlier you can begin pursuing intermediate level subjects, like those you are actually interested in. I believe that this can also be used to motivate students by allowing them to begin picking what classes they are interested in earlier, at the same time, forcing them to take fewer classes in what they are not interested in.
