I don't know...maybe you're being negative. I'm not mocking you at all. What you told me had so much less to do with games than with you just trying to find your way in life. It had the feel of something very personal...something you probably should have pmed me, instead of written where anyone could see. But it meant something to me that you bared yourself to me like that.

It's interesting how much of that has absolutely nothing to do with games...but thank you for sharing with me.

Ok, so I promised I would tell you something, so here goes: There's actually a short answer to this, but getting to know you, I'm thinking that you will want the long one. ...I'll give you the short one anyway: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (for the most part) *smirks* And now the long one (haha, I tried to post it to your account and found out I am going to have to break it into parts): I want a game that embodies a real fantasy life. I think that as being a gamer is damn near a way of life (for those of us that are deep in), and we spend/waste so much of our time in these games, that we deserve more than most games offer at the current time. I have a lot of influences from my first game, Ragnarok Online. First of all, it caught my eye because it allowed me to "be" an anime character in an anime world. I got so engrossed in that game world, and though it was only 2D and had not many quests, there was just something about it. I felt that I was living in a world rather than simply playing a game. I want to feel that my character is actually growing, not just progressing through levels. In Ragnarok, there were (initially, there were eventually more) 3 stages of class progression. Everyone started off as a novice and then had to do a quest to be accepted as an apprentice to whatever class they wanted to progress to.

So for example, if you wanted to be a priest, you would have to test to become an acolyte, and then spend the next 40-50 levels learning how to be an acolyte before you could take the test to become a priest. You really felt the growth of your character; progression really meant something. And not all people passed the test, or at least not on their first try. It's not like in most games where progression is a guarantee. So because this was a true challenge, you felt the accomplishment once you succeeded, and your friends were there to watch you and congratulate you once you would come back from your trials and literally transform in front of their eyes to your next class. There were 14 classes in all. I like that because I tend to get bored with one class often and need to try something new. I prefer to have around 20 classes offered. But another thing is that the classes were very unique, each class was it's own, not just the same as x class with a little different spin to it. Another thing I want is customization. I want my character to be what I want it to be, not what devs tell me I have to be. In Ragnarok you were given almost complete freedom. All of your stats were chosen by you. Each level you were given points to allocate and you put them wherever you wanted. You also chose your spells.

There were more spells available than you could have, so it was necessary to sit down and really think about what it was you wanted to do and what spells you wanted to have. So you take those 14 classes and multiply that by x, x=your imagination. With my priest, I decided that I wanted to be different. I wanted to have all of the buffs that a priest could offer, but I didn't want to be a healbot, I wanted to be a battle priest...so I was. I dodged mobs almost as good as a rogue or assassin did and hit them just as hard with my mace. Lol, I remember people would run past me and stop to help me with a mob they thought would be hard, and then they would see me pull out my mace and start dodging and whacking on a mob and they would be like, "Oh ish!" I got a lot of stares when I was in the field, fighting. Community is the most important thing to me, it can make me stay in a not so great game much longer than I ever should, or make me leave a pretty good one REALLY fast. From the game's standpoint, I want a game that encourages community. I mean, I play these games to play with others, not to solo. So I want a game that encourages and rewards grouping. That has community events often (Ragnarok had this as well) and offers features that are simply for community and "hanging out", like player housing, character marriages, etc.

Now switching gears a bit, we'll take a look at some of the more advanced things I want (these are things that Vanguard brings to the table). I want a vast world that has as little instancing as possible. I enjoy dungeon instancing, but I do not like world instancing. I want to see strangers running around me. I want things like ships to sail on with my friends and mounts that can hold more than just me, why not some saddlebags? Why not allow me to be able to let my friend/girl-friend/wife ride on my mount along with me? I like an in-depth crafting system. Vanguard has this downpat. The crafting system is challenging (maybe too challenging), and it is a system of character growth all its own. There are some that make characters to do nothing but reach level 50 in whatever craft they choose. I also want the crafted weapons/gear to be worth something...the entire game. I feel that anything you actually put effort into, should be the best available in the game, with the exception of high level dungeon/raid/PvP items. I've already mentioned it, but on this housing thing, Vanguard did it RIGHT, in my opinion. There are different tiers of homes and you have to find a neighborhood that you like, do you want to live on the beach, and island, in the mountains? You find your neighborhood and build on an empty lot that was NOT instanced.

Therefore you actually, truly, own a piece of the game once you start building your home. And while you were building, you could actually watch your house be built, you could see the stages. That was awesome to see your own house and other houses in your neighborhood be built, to watch your neighborhood grow. Guild halls were the same way. A meaningful PvP system is necessary to me. I think PvP is what makes PvE meaningful. What reason is there for nice, end-game gear, if there is no one to test it against? I like how Aion implements PvP into the game. And finally (I think I got everything, lol) is the list of what I feel should be MMO staples at this point: Global Friendlist/Communication Accounts Defensive/Offensive Targeting Good Graphics Intuitive/Innovative Controls
