Today the Aion 4.0 banner went back up on the Korean Aion site and it included new information about the soon to be released 4.0 patch. The maximum character level is being raised to 65 and several new skills or different ways that skills can be used have been released as well.

The translation of the skills now appears below (thanks to Kalsteine!) and is followed by the Korean text for those that read Korean.


The first set of skills introduced are survival skills.

  • Magical Defense - Gladiator : For a short duration, increases your magic suppression, but lowers your magic resistance.

  • Quick Dash - Ranger : Removes all movement debuffs and teleports a short distance to the front.

  • Sprint - Cleric : Temporarily increases movement speed.

  • Dimensional Escape - Chanter : Teleports and decreases enmity.

The second set of skills designed around RVR and are skills that do AOE damage.

  • Judgement Strike - Templar : Strong physical damage attack to one target.

  • Leap Smash - Gladiator : Leap towards the enemy and strike the ground, damaging the enemies around the target.

  • Cheap Strike - Assassin : Can only be used during stealth and causes massive damage, stunning the target if they're attacked from behind.

  • Timed Inferno - Sorcerer : After a short period of time 3 meteors are summoned to a targeted area and they cause AOE damage.

  • Spirital Storm - Spiritmaster : Your elemental causes AOE damage and puts the enemy in a “Pushed Back” state. After execution of the skill, the summoned spirit despawns.

The third set of skills are probably the most interesting, because it mentions specifically that they are skills that are charged up, so that the player can adjust their time charging up the skill for different effects.

  • Hypnosis - Sorcerer : You put your target to sleep with the sleep duration depending on the charge duration.

  • Healing Rays - Cleric : an AOE heal with the amount of health that's healed depending on the charged duration.

  • Death Strike - Chanter : The enemy is struck with great might and the damage increases the longer the skill is charged.

The article also mentions how combo skills have been lacking and suggests that they will receive some help in Aion 4.0.

Sounds like 4.0 is going to be an interesting patch.

its basically: (crappy translation since its corean lol )

Gladiator - Magic Barrier: Temporaly increase Magic Suppression in exange of descreasing Magic Resist

Cleric - Charge: (looks like the same effect of glad/temp's charge) temporaly increases movement speed

Ranger
- Reverse Blind Leap (looks like a blind leap reversed lol)

Chanter - Distortion: instantly teleports, lowers enmity and removes immobilization <<CHANTER WTF TELEPORT>>

AoE Skills

Gladiator - Ground Strike: Leap to target and cause AOE damage

Templar
- inflict damage on a target(s) in stumble state (AoE ? new Break Power ? )

Spirit Master
- Sacrifices your pet do deals AoE damage, with a chance to knock back the targets

Sorcerer - Fire Meteors: Deals AoE damage after a delay (new magma eruption lol)

Assassin
- Back Stab: stuns the target and cause damage (you have to use it in Hide)

[NEW type of skills] the cumulative trigger skill.

Sorcerer - Inducement: forces the target to fall asleep, the longer you charge, longer you can sleep him

Cleric - heal group members, the longer you charge increases the healing power

Chanter - the longer the charge, greater the damage with a better chance to Stumble it

NC gives Snare to clerics in 3.0 , and now Movement Speed Buff :snowman: :snowman:

dunno the point of giving a teleport to chanters... i hope its not 5min. CD or a crappy stigma
i wld love new levels of Celerity Mantra instead of it

im loving the idea of exchanging magic resist for magic supression lol. Here comes the mres set for gladi again for that skill :)

is not exchange, i dont think... will be: decrease of MR by 200-300 and increase MS by.. lets say, a value that allow glad to survive sorc burst (after sleep/cor)
anyway, i belive the charge for sleep will also work more as nerf (could be: 1sec cast - 1sec sleep), so at least sorc wont be able to spam theyr sleep/cor rotation till CD's over

Thanks much - anything helps since it means I don't have to start typing Korean into google translate to try and get something out their images. While Korean is a very orderly language, it's still a pain to type for an English speaker.

yeah, apparently the initial rough translation mixed the ranger one and the chanter one up somehow. So no stated removal of movement impairment on that skill when it was fully translated.

Do we have any clue of when the 4.0 will be released on the Korean PTS ? (Even approximately)

Anyway, I am glad they try to lay the emphasis on increasing the defense / survival of every class in PvP. I think we are gonna reach a very interesting PvP balance where there's still a lot of pressure (you can't afford to make mistake, and you need to be very responsive and quick when playing against good PvPers) but yet it's going to be a lot harder for Sorc/Sins/Ranger to Pew Pew your face in half a sec.

Even though I am really looking forward to having a different gameplay (Charging skills, more combo skills), I think the game still lacks customization (PvP wise, I am not talking about looks here) I mean, when you reach high level PvP, everybody's almost got the same stigmas, the same gear and the same manastones. I wish they would do something about that.

It's actually out right now on the PTS - just got released. Working on some coverage... some of it depends on slow downloads of the patch though.
