Some of our players have been using the 64bit client with Aion 2.7 and report complete and total success. I asked for a step-by-step guide for it and this is it.

First, please back up your Aion directories before you try anything. Nothing is ever guaranteed to work 100% of the time and it's always good to be able to undo. DO NOT try this unless you definitely have a 64bit operating system. If you do not know if you're running on 64 bit, then don't try this. These steps were originally provided by Quasimodo (thank you). Please use at your own risk.

Steps for NA NCWest version of Aion:

  • Download Aion from NA NCsoft West as normal. The 64 bit client will now download correctly
  • In the launcher, right-click on Aion, select properties and in command line parameters add:
    -64

  • Start Aion as usual & enjoy 64-bit client

Note: 64bit version no longer has devmode enabled and so typing -DEVMODE "con_disable_console = 0" after the -64 (with a space inbetween) will NOT give you FoV back

Steps for Gameforge version of Aion:

  • Use the 64 bit client already in the Gameforge folder in bin64
  • Create a batch file, which is really a notepad text file with the extension of .bat instead of .txt (helpful to edit it with .txt and then just change the extension). It should contain the following lines, although you may need to change the directory if Aion is in a different directory for you:

    Spoiler

  • Start Aion by double clicking on the batch file & enjoy the 64-bit client

Amazingly simple...

Reported bugs with the 64bit client have mainly been resolved with the most recent Korean client updates. Please report any bugs you find in the thread below. You may see occasional crashes due to slight incompatibilities between the korean and NA/EU version.

Instructions for undoing the 64bit client change:

If you are using the Gameforge client, then use their launcher and not the batch file. If you are using the NCWest client, then remove the -64 from your launcher parameters.

No files need to be removed or changed for either version of running the 64bit client.

Launching 64bit through Steam

Use at your own risk as it involves bypassing the launcher and renaming the bin program. It's possible you can be banned for renaming the file, although we've heard no reports of it happening yet.

  • Rename aion.bin in the bin64 directory to aion.exe so that you can properly launch it directly as a non-steam game (steam only allows launching of .exe programs)
  • Add aion.exe as a non-steam game
  • Right click the added game and go to Properties. After the name of what to run (which is in quotes), you need to give it all the options (didn't have to use quotes) that it uses when it normally launches. You can find the options in the addcache.xml file inside your main aion directory. Mine says:
    • Options for NA: -ip:64.25.35.103 -port:2106 -cc:1 -noauthgg -ls -charnamemenu -noweb -nowebshop -3DV
    • Options for EU: -ip:79.110.83.80 -port:2106 -cc:2 -noauthgg -ls -charnamemenu -lang:enu

  • Click play - Steam should load by the time you're at the character select screen. At least I know mine was loaded by that time.

The problem now is, that with 2.7 they removed all the 64bit files. Thus we need to steal them from the Korean client.

ya just read up more on the issue LOL.

What people dont understand it isnt NcWest fault AT ALL its all NcKorea since they wont give the West any true tools like they have EVERYTHING and EVERY fix needs to be issued from Korea. NcWest can do simple and small fix's but anything else has to come from Korea

There are some bugs in the 64-bits client.

I've noticed these 2 so far:
- Player notes don't show on your friend list
- Looting window instantly disappears (auto loot and key-looting still works)

There is one more "bug" ... when you enter new chaos or solo arena EC you will see all names of your enemies instead of "contestant 1" ...
How do you think ncsoft will ban us for that? :D

That likely has to do with the client version being a different 2.7 version than the version that NCWest is running (it sounds like an older version before they got rid of the names). I can't check where I am right now, but is there any version information on the files downloaded? I can ask the people I am in contact with about getting a more recent version of the 64bit client.

NCWest can't ban you for what they can't see.

I suppose they could ban you for running the Korean client, but they'd be silly to do it given that they main reason people are running the client is because they have a lot of problems with the 32 bit client and would need to quit if they can't run something better.

No you don't. I didn't see them. You only see them in training. And in the solo one you're supposed to see the name...

True, i guess it happened to me one time only when i first run 64bit client, so i guess it was just a glitch or something. Sorry for false info then.

64-bit client doesn't have -DEVMODE "con_disable_console = 0" disabled - custom FoV is back, baby! :D:D

To enable it you can paste

Quote

-DEVMODE "con_disable_console = 0"
in Launcher's commandline params, right after -64 (just put a space in between).

Awesome Work!!! Thanks a lot.

Now, please find us a fix for FoV from Korean Server. These dimwits at NCWest won't get anything done.
Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their levels and beat you with experience.
